About
As the name suggests, Siesta Beach is a great spot for a lazy and relaxing day in the sun. Lay on its cool, white, and powdery sand, or take a dip in the crystal clear waters. The kids will love collecting the beautifully shaped shells, too. And don't about the kids—there are lifeguards on duty. While there aren't many beachside food options, you can head to the nearby cafes and oyster bars. Get a beachfront condo to make the most of your stay, or visit for the awesome sunset views on an e-bike tour of Siesta Key. There's even a Siesta Beach drum circle on some days. – Tripadvisor

- Gavin SAirdrie, United Kingdom52 contributionsWhite powder beachTook a trip to the beach, there are so any ones to pick, we opted for Siesta Beach. A two hour drive and we arrived, free parking on the beach front, got there before 1030. We hired a wind protector, you can take your own just make sure it is sturdy enough to withstand the wind. Not sure if it is always windy on this beach, but it was on this day. The white powder sand went on for miles, absolutely beautiful, we sat and watched the birds dive for fish in the shallows. We had a 20min walk into the local bars for some lunch, lots to choose from, excellent value for money. As beach days go, this was a very pleasant, quiet day, the beach is huge and there are lots of areas to pitch on. Where we parked there were very clean restrooms and a boardwalk access for wheelchairs etc onto the beach. The only reason this did not get a 5, i had to pick sand out from everywhere. 😝Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 4 October 2023
- Dan LBloomington, Indiana87 contributionsBeautiful beach to take in the autumn heatHad a great time with our family. Lots of space to set up chairs and umbrellas. The sand is beautiful. This was our second time so we remember extra sunscreen as the white sand reflected so much on us last time that we were turned into a pair of steamed lobsters. This time we were ready and had a great time. Plus the little showers and foot sprayers were great for removing the sand on the way out. Only improvement would be more parking as that was a bit of a mess…Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 October 2023
- CalmjohnLeavenworth, Kansas7,467 contributionsA Beach Like No OtherWhile visiting friends they took my wife and I for a day's vacation on Siesta Beach. At first, I was hesitate to go, but relented as we were their guests. They were providing the transportation and even lunch. It would have been a grave mistake on my part not to go. We enjoyed walking, having a 'picnic lunch' and just the beauty of the sand and sound of the ocean. We enjoyed the beauty as we wished every beach could have. We were only there for a scant few hours, but it only seemed as minutes. Our intentions are to return in 2024 for a much longer visit.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 1 November 2023
- Christine LMinneapolis, Minnesota48 contributionsBest Beach everWas staying in Venice but was not the beach we were looking for. Found this beach and was totally amazed at the difference less than 30 minutes. The beach is very wide so it is a bit of a hike from the parking lot. The white sand is beautiful and cool on your feet. The water is the lovely aqua blue like the Caribbean waters.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 December 2023
- Mike FAntigo, Wisconsin515 contributionsAmazing beach!Awesome beach! Really has it all, free parking, amazing sand and water! Plenty of space(even though it is a long hike from parking to the water). Lots of room in either direction to walk and search for shells and critters! Still hoping for a full sand dollar! The showers at the exit to the parking lot are very nice as well! Great place!Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 12 December 2023
- BladerunnerDeckardSt. Petersburg, Florida7 contributionsAwesome beach for familiesWhat are the best beaches to visit. If you’re staying on siesta key Beach, parking is not an issue. Otherwise try to find parking through a bed-and-breakfast or online. RED tide has become an issue and unpredictable, please keep an eye on that prior to your visit.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 2 January 2024
- fredinmnWoodbury, Minnesota463 contributionsFine White Soft SandThe descriptions of Siesta Beach are accurate. The sand is great. Felt the beach was very clean and roomy. Sand Volleyball Courts are positioned away from the water and the sunbathers, which is great. Public restrooms and snack bar are conveniently located by the parking lot. Near the parking lot were some concrete loungers, which would have been nice to have closer to the water, but a nice amenity anyways. Parking was free but can fill up fast. Getting off Siesta Key at the end of the day will take you some time if there is traffic. Definitely worth the trip.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 January 2024
- ataraxisKalamazoo, Michigan214 contributionsWorld Class BeachSiesta Key Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever been to, including non-public beaches. The 99% pure white quartz sand when dry is like powdered sugar. We rented chairs and an umbrella from Boucher Brothers and had a wonderful time relaxing. It really is a world class beach with great public facilities.Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 27 January 2024

Over Rated very small amount sculptures. Around 12 sculptures that are being worked on day 2. We've been to many sand sculptures contest around the country, they are usually free. Siesta key charges 8 - 10 per person. Parking is impossible had to pay a 15 dollar donation to a local church. Not worth it

A Siesta Key must do.
Couple hours before sunset. Folks, young and old gather to enjoy the drums; dancing or just observing the rhythms of life. Fun!
Bring your beach chairs. Coolers and drums, if you have them,
No auditions necessary 😊

For over thirty years I stayed with family on Longboat Key, or on Lido or Anna Maria (overrated), so never got to Siesta Key. So glad to choose Siesta Key for the first time now. The beach was beautiful, sand so soft and clean. Our condo had free loungers which made it very convenient. Enough shells to make shell collectors happy too. Our vacation resort was on the beach which was a big plus. This is where we will be returning to from now on.

We have been spending winters on Siesta Key for past 20 years and have seen the explosion of growth and traffic on the key. Months of March and April are awful for traffic and is getting worse. If you are a beach person be aware there are breezes and some gusts up to 20-30 mph almost every day during the months of January-April. The increase on rental prices also have exploded plus you pay 12.5% tax on top of the rent and this is soon to go up to 13.5%.

This beach is absolutely wonderful. The sand is a white powder, like soft flour. The water is clean with a sandy bottom as you walk out to the waves. Restrooms are clean, although a bit of a hike from the beach, and are up one flight of stairs. Food and beverages
available upstairs on the deck, as well. There is a very large parking lot, but because the beach is popular, it fills up early. Very pretty drive down the road as you approach the beach.

Crescent beach in siesta key is like no other beach. Pure white sand, firm and flat for walking or running. People take bikes, strollers, wheelchairs even some electric type of board was seen on the beach. Water is clean, swimmers can be seen as well as kayaks, paddle boards. A fun fact is that often dolphins can be seen around boats, kayaks etc. My favorite beach— even better than the Caribbean beaches I have been to.

Aug 2021 The Red Tide leaves this beach practically inhabitable. Young children, adults and elderly eyes burning, gaging and coughing over the dead fish floating and on the shores. People wearing masks on the beach and not because Covid is raging here because of the respiratory distress. Nearby beaches are the same or worse. It’s sickening to see these usually beautiful beaches look like sea life cemeteries. Be forewarned check the conditions before coming.

Great option for travelers, rates are reasonable for rentals and they are setup in advance to secure the best spots on the beach. Tyler was very helpful helping us checkout the perfect spot and checked on us and made sure our umbrella was secure throughout our stay at the beach. We’ll be back for sure!

White powder sand because this sand is from quartz not coral. The water has more waves and was beautiful. Parking was limited so either get here early or find a place that has offers parking and a day pass for one price. People ask is it worth the drive and yes, it is worth the drive! The three teens I drove with asked why we didn’t get a hotel in this area instead of St. Petersburg. I will be back alone

A can you legally wear thong bikini for men and women in or around st. Augustine Florida beaches?

If there is any ordinance banning thongs, it is not enforced at Siesta Key near Sarasota Florida. I see many women and a growing number of men in speedos and even some in thongs. Women are not allowed to go topless here, but they can wear any kind of bottom. I've seen extreme thongs with only strings in back and a tiny triangle in front.
I'm not sure about St. Augustine, but for many years Daytona Beach to the south has been the same as Sarasota is now--almost anything goes at the beach short of topless. I suspect St. Agustine is like Daytona now.
If you want a nude beach south of Daytona, Playa Linda Beach near Titusville is effectively a nude beach, but closed during rocket launches.

Rent a boat at a Marina for a half a day or full day it is very easy to navigate the boat the kids will LOVE it, its near captain Curts restaurant, also if you want to try a great Rum its called Siesta Key Rum, its made in Siesta Key and you can do a quick tour of it and try some samples its located about 15 mins north of Siesta keys also you can use the free trolly during the day at night they have a shuttle van that you pay for you tip the driver as you're getting out, its cheap and easy to get around, the beach is 99% quartz which means its a beautiful white sand that never gets hot which means you can walk bare footed on the beach and your feet will NOT get hot Sunday evening before sundown on the local beach they have a bunch of people that get together and play the drums definitely worth checking out it sounds really cool and its right on the beach and its a beautiful sun set and its free

Like others have stated, there are signs along the street letting you know that the Trolley stops there. You may have to wait a little bit. It is the best way to get around especially in the crowded areas.
