About
Bosco Nestore Winery is one of the oldest winery in Abruzzo. Born in the 1897 is now located in Nocciano, between the Gran Sasso and the Majella mountains. The winery offers an astonishing tour through the wine life in Abruzzo, expecially the visit of the underground tunnels where hundred thousands bottles are stored for aging and the museum of viticulture. Tasting of our wines follows the tour.

The occasion is Cantine Aperte: Bosco Nestore 🍷 welcomes the visitor with a rustic and informal environment. The porchetta food truck 🚚 precedes the tasting area. €10 for those who need a glass or, alternatively, €5 for 4 tastings. The fountain is convenient for rinsing the glass or drinking water 💧. The delivery of the kebabs which took a really long time (more than an hour 😑) could have been better organized or at least notified to those who were waiting.

Among the tastings, the passerina 🥂 was really good, fresh and fragrant. Fruity and intense the Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo 🍷.

The visit inside the cellar is interesting, among barrels, fermenters and antiques. The guide explains the processes while the museum tells the story.

Well worth a visit! The wine tasting is superbly led and presented by Giovanna whose knowledge is excellent. The tour again with Giovanna is fascinating but most of all the wines themselves are superb. Of note are a Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva that can certainly hold its own among the best reds, an incredibly complex Chardonnay, one of the best Pecorino and a Rosé with surprising depth.

Amazing wine tasting experience. I highly recommend this tour - very informative, accommodating, and personable, with the best Trebbiano and Montepulciano d'Abruzzo I have ever tasted (and they export to Wisconsin and Indiana!!). The cheese and meat tasting option should not be overlooked; their supplier is just a mile down the road so it is extraordinarily fresh. SO happy we stumbled upon this gem. Grazie mille!!

Fantastic presentation and wine. Our group was small which made it easier to ask and get full answers to questions. Plus, it was a sunny day.

The tour was pleasant, informative and memorable. The hostess had a deep and caring knowledge of the winery and its history. The tasting of the Bosco wine and accompanying food was in a wonderful setting within the winery. We felt as if we were in their home. Met several other people we enjoyed in conversation.

Our hostess was knowledgably and friendly. She took our party of 12 throughout the entire winery and explained all of the steps in detail. Later we sat down to a tasting that included 4 of wines accompanied with grilled artisan bread with their olive oil and a taste selection of local cheeses and cured meats.

Tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history and wine making process. She also easily switched from Italian to English to accommodate a mixed group of locals and Americans. Food was a nice complement to the wine. The wines were good, but did not blow us away. Views, scenery, and tour were worth the visit.

In Abruzzo and maybe a little way off the beaten track, but we’ll worth the detour if you are interested in wine and it’s production.
A guide was very knowledgable.
