The lighthouse is in the St. Marks Wildlife Refuge. It was nice to see the lighthouse at it's original location in the Refuge, as it must have appeared many years ago. Visiting the location, you can sense the quietness that the light keepers must also experienced. The lighthouse is in fairly good repair. It was not open for tours.

On vacation and wanted to see the lighthouses. St Marks was the first one. Stopped in the gift shop/information building, very nice, friendly attendant, be sure to see the stuffed alligator. Went to the light house. Although you can't go in it's worth the trip. Our issue was when we visited it was 3 weeks post Hurricane Hermine. I assume... More

It is a nice drive out to the lighthouse and a pretty place to walk around. You cannot go into the lighthouse. Good for bird watching out there and just relaxing.

Located in a wildlife refuge the road ends here. Sunrise and sunset offer the most spectacular light but any time of day is fine. The marshes leading to the lighthouse offer great varieties of birds and raw natural beauty in a very uncrowned unique landscape. There are many trails along the dikes. You will see alligators, but mostly just their... More

Our family is trying to visit every lighthouse in Florida and this one did not disappoint. Unfortunately the structure is being renovated and we did not arrive on a day they were giving tours. Do yourself a favor and stop at the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge Visitor's Center. You can get a free "Lighthouse Road Drive Guide" which will... More

Been to st. Marks light house in Tallahassee with friend. It was amazing... Our idea was to see sunset.. Plesant feeling.. Alligators.. Mosquitoes, baby rats.. Lol.. Feared of crazy sounds but in a nice way.. Long drive through woods and marsh... Lotus flowers... Wavy driveway... Trip totally worth it but only to nature lovers..

Lovely drive through woods & marsh to reach lighthouse. There is a fee at park entrance. Passed lots of bird watchers along the side of the road. Had the observation tower by the lighthouse at the end of the roadway to ourselves and enjoyed seeing the wildlife refuge, birds, boaters, and changing colors at the end of the day. The... More

Couldn't get into the lighthouse but the view of the Gulf and walk all around the place were totally worth it. We walked behind the lighthouse and got great shots of it from the marsh. The ground directly behind the lighthouse was strangely spongey-probably from the number of fiddler crabs that inhabit during high tide.
