We were just killing time down by the wharf and decided to give this a try. Enjoyed seeing it and makes me have a better appreciation for those that served on the ship. Glad I had a hat, sunglasses and water. Tennis shoes are better...More

Folks who complain about it being hot inside should be writing for "Duh!" magazine. Of course a steel structure without air conditioning is going to be hot in Florida throughout much of the year -- and certainly in the summer! Deal with it. You get...More

You might miss this in the "things to do in Tampa" guides, but carve out an hour to do it! We visited the ship immediately after the Florida Aquarium, since they are adjacent, and that worked out great because you can just park in one...More

This was a very neat experience and we enjoyed the self guided tour access. There are many different areas to see and explore. That being said, be prepared to do some steep stepping. One big down fall was the steep ladder like step stairs. Many...More

Recently, our car club group of 50 toured the American Victory Ship in Tampa. We were met immediately by Gary, a veteran guide on the American Victory Ship for many years. He was full of facts about the Ship and the folks who were on...More

Have been on a number of these, and this was not best presented. If you 'shadow' one of the guided tours (must be available thru another site, not the ship itself) you get more info. Not the usual complement of volunteers to offer info, though...More

if you are a historian or just like history, spend as much time Lurking about the ship, but if it's curiosity that is getting you, about an hour should be fine
