Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had visited Tampa several times in the past, but actually discovered this park on line. It's at the west end of the Ybor City 7th Street area. It's actually on a cross street. I think it's an interesting piece of real estate and free to visit.

This park is located on the former site of a boarding house run by Ruperto and Paulina Pedroso.
After an attempt on his life, the boarding house became a refuge for political figure Jose Marti.
The property was later donated or willed to the government of Cuba, as a monument to Marti.
According to our guide, Wallace Reyes, the park is still technically Cuban soil, and is protected under the same international laws that protect embassies or consulates.

Awesome little park to stop by when you are visiting Ybor City, Tampa. We happened to come by as a walking tour was going through. The guy was a Ph.D. and really made our day telling interesting stories about the history of that property. I would recommend taking a Cigar City walking tour to get the most out of this park and the area.

This Park was donated to the people of Cuba by the people of Tampa and rests on the location of the cottage of Paulina Padreso, an Afro-Cuban patriot and revolutionary. AFter an attempt to poison Marti by Spanish agents, Marti stayed in this well-guarded location.

The Friends of Jose Marti Park in the Ybor City Historic District was donated as park land to the government of Cuba prior to that country's communist revolution. The park today remains officially the property of the Republic of Cuba. It contains soil from all provinces of the island, as well as memorial statues of two heroes of Cuban Independence, Jose Marti and Antonio Maceo Grajales. On this site the home of Paulina and Ruperto Pedroso was used to save Marti when he was poisoned by would-be assassins from Spain. Today, a statue of Marti is erected there. Tampa has the third largest population of Cuban residents in the U.S. and
the longest official association with Cuba of any city in the U.S. This park in Ybor City and other nearby sites were the locations of some very intense and historic episodes prior to and after the Cuban independence.

Jose Marti Park is actually owned by the Cuban government. It contains soil from each of the provinces of Cuba. That info alone should make it worth a visit. Jose Marti was a Cuban national hero and is referred to as the "Apostle of Cuban Independence" from Spain. This park is a nice memorial to him. The center piece is a sculpture of Jose Marti. The park is small and only opened from 8:30am to 1:30pm Monday thru Friday. Still definitely worth a visit.

It's a nice park and very well maintained with some really nice history. If you are in the area it's a cool place to stop by and relax for a few moments but you can complete your entire visit here in 5 to 10 minutes but really depends how long you want to reflect.

There is a statue which serves as the center piece of the park. By no means would I consider it a great value to the art community but the park is here to remind all of Jose Marti's contribution to a free Cuba.

This tiny park in Ybor City, dedicated to the great Cuban leader, Jose Marti, is worth a visit. It's locked, most of the time for good reason. The park has soil from all of the Cuban provinces, and is actually deeded to Cuba. Open a few hours a day, and the rest of the time, there is a phone number you can call to come in and walk on Cuban soil, and be up close to the beautiful statue of Jose Marti. If it's locked, it's still worth stopping and looking through the gate!

We visited the park during a tour of Ybor City....a nice, pretty little park with a lot of history behind it. Walk right on into Cuba without leaving Tampa!

This is a very small Park so seeing it will be quick but it is highly unusual because the land of the park is part of the Republic of Cuba and it's one of the few places in the United States where you can step into a foreign country without a passport. The park is dedicated to the freedom fighter Jose Marti who is a champion to the Cuban people.
