we had a great time on our 1 hour cruise. We learned all about sponges and the most common types. Our diver Mr. Wilson was so friendly and informative. He posed for some great shots while in his diving suit. We even saw a bald eagle circling the boat,

Very good information about history, harvesting, & marketing sponges from a multi generation sponge businessman. A diver demonstrated diving in a vintage dive suit. Very positive experience. Highly recommend.

My mother and I visited Tarpon Springs over 40 years ago and it hasn't changed much. We took the Sponge Boat tour and it's something very different and fascinating. The shopping is great along the main drag by the docks and the sponges are amazing. Of course, several Greek restaurants to choose from in this fun and friendly town. A... More

Great price for a short boat trip, the adults and kids loved the old school sponge dive. The tour guide was great and told us the history. The sponge diver wearing the old dive suit was really neat to see how heavy it was and learn how long they stayed down. The sponge diver and crew was great with our... More

The folks who present this tour are locals with knowledge of the sponge industry in the area and some have been there nearly from the start. It is a friendly and informal atmosphere where you are up close and personal with the diver and he answers all your questions. It is not a fancy tour out very far but close... More

For only $10 a person it was ok. For a 40 minute tour the boat didn't travel out far at all. It didn't even go farther than the shopping area. The guide was knowledage about the area and it was unique to see the diver in action.

It's a 40-minute very knowledgeable Cruise about the sponge diving ,from the early nineteen-hundreds to today , on how they harvest the sponges and what they are still used for today.

During this short, inexpensive boat ride you will be able to learn how Tarpon Springs started more than 100 years ago together with the Greek divers who came here to get sponges from the sea. So very soon this small town took a leading role in Sponge industry. Very informative boat ride!!!!

My wife and I took this 40 minute boat tour of the Tarpon Springs bay area. A diving exhibition demonstrating how sponges are harvested was the initial attraction. My wife and I found the Tarpon Springs history and sponge description provided by boat captain very informative and an unexpected treat. The diving exhibition was good. Overall we recommend this for... More
