When I go scuba diving (and especially Megalodon tooth diving), I want several things from the dive operator: 1. Safety (goes without saying). 2. A Captain and crew that exhibits professionalism. 3. Room to move around and set up equipment onboard a clean and organized vessel. 4. A Captain and crew that can provide a good description of the dive site and an appropriate dive plan. 5. A Captain with enough experience to get me to an area where shark teeth are often still found. Along with that experience, it’s important that the captain can show beginners examples of what they’re looking for on the bottom and a compass heading to search. 6. An operation that will cancel a dive in advance when the visibility conditions are just too poor for his/her customers to have a fun, safe, and successful set of dives. With that comes good dependable communication with customers via email and/or text. Aristakat Charters provides all of the above and I will continue to dive with Capt. Jamie in the future. Each time I’ve been on his boat, I’ve always met other divers that are repeat customer and wouldn’t dive with anyone else. I’ve joined that group. When you go Megalodon tooth hunting, unlike on YouTube, not everyone finds a “Meg” every dive! You have to really look for them and be in the right place at the right time to find one that has recently been stirred up by the ocean after 3.6 million to 23 million years. However, I’ve been out with Aristakat 7 times for 14 shark tooth dives, and we never went out when at least one diver went home with a Meg, and often several were found. In addition, divers nearly always find many small fossilized teeth from other smaller species. I’ve never been on a boat that came back totally skunked. BTW, it’s uncanny how many beginner Meg tooth divers I have seen come back with some nice finds on their first trip out!!!

Great charter in Venice. I’ve never dove in the Gulf before, always Fort Lauderdale, and Captain Jamie took us to amazing dive sites (army tank and barge) that we loved just as much. We saw lots of animals and impressive artificial reefs. The charter caters to divers needs and they make safety their top priority. Both Captain Jamie and Scottie made sure everyone was safe and was having a good time. We will be going back!

If you’re traveling to southwest Florida and you are the only diver in your family and are looking for a fun, quick dive excursion, Aristakat will fill the bill. They have a very lively crew that loves what they do, and were even wonderful with the non-diver family members that joined with me. We did the Meg Tooth search which was enjoyable. Had my mask...and later my snorkel rescued with their help, and with other divers along the way. It’s also a good dive for practicing your underwater navigation skills (mine weren’t quite as bad as I feared to be honest.) And price wise, if I actually lived in that area of Florida, I’d probably hop on Aristakat every weekend morning. $90 a diver....I mean really, what else can you do for less than that if you have all your own gear. Their charge included tanks and weights, which is good because I don’t travel with either.

If you are thinking of fossil diving in Venice, then do not hesitate to book the Aristakat! We (my 10 year old and I) have completed multiple trips with Captain Jamie. All have been fun and safe. It does not matter if you are a new diver or experienced diver, you will enjoy this boat. The fossil beds are at 20-30 feet so diving with young divers is possible. Kids will love fossil diving.

Captain Jamie took care of my husband and I, and was patient with my son and his wife as newer divers. Very enjoyable, he is very experienced, and a super nice boat!
