Island tour visit
Oct 2019 • Couples
We visited during our Island tour and was nice to see the cricket ground named after Sir Vivian Richards and used by the West Indies team on some occasions.
Would have been nice to go on a match day but still enjoyable.
Should have taken a picture of the statue outside but had a pigeon on it and on the way out it was still there which now makes me think was it there as part of the statue surely not.
The shop and cafe was open although not much going on and it was free entry to look around.
Anyway hope the review was helpful.

A great stadium and a lot cheeper than going to test match in the UK
The rain did stop play at end of day and there was a great pay going on in the stands

Well-appointed stadium in the middle of nowhere
Feb 2019 • Friends
Stadium was opened in 2007 to replace theinadequate cricket ground in St John's. The first Test match was abandoned after ten balls because the run-ups were too sandy; even now, sand flies up when a ball bounces over the ground and the outfield is slow. We had good seats almost behind the bowler's arm. Good standard of vendors - I partcularly liked the fact that the locals simply drove their own vehicles onto the periphery, got out their barbecues and started selling! Could have dome with better range of souvenirs though, as we had little chance to buy Antiguan souvenirs during our trip (other than at the airpiort, which is overpriced of course). Security at the ground is very lax - cursory examination of bags.

Lovely cricket ground
Jan 2019 • Friends
Attended for the 2nd test against the Windies. Really nice cricket ground you could walk all around the ground and you are spoilt for choice for something to eat, all the food outlets are run by local people and are very good value. Only problem England lost in 3 days.

Dodgy start but good experience

We booked seats for the first day of the England Test Match in January. Ten minutes before play a sight screen was erected completely blocking the view from our seated section to the amazement and astonishment of everyone affected. There was no-one present to apologise or assist in re-seating.

Thankfully there was plenty of room to relocate. There were relatively few local supporters but a strong attendance from UK. Although the sun did gradually encroach on the stand (South Stand would be better), we had a great view and experience.

Local food at the ground was fun, and (although we lost) it was a great day out.

Sir Viv Richards attended which made the experience even better !

Great Place to Watch Cricket
Feb 2019 • Solo
Went to watch the WI v Eng test. Spectators can walk around the entire ground, engaging with other spectators and vendors. This is particularly important as you will want to explore the variety of local food options for lunch. The barbecued lobster is recommended. Also, you can negotiate the drinks prices between the various vendors.

Had great seats in the lower tier near the dressing room. No obstructions to viewing and access to all areas of the ground meant we could check out views from elsewhere. The mid wicket grassy bank seating was also excellent viewing.

Overall a great stadium for easy and fun viewing of cricket. The only negative would be that it is located in the middle of nowhere!

Great atmosphere despite the lack of local supporters

Until now I’d only watched cricket at Lord’s and the Oval, so this experience was very different and huge fun. The stadium infrastructure is modern having been built in 2007, though some of the facilities are already in poor shape, especially the toilets. Once you’ve gained admission, everything is very relaxed. Nobody checks your tickets, so in practice you can sit anywhere no matter where your designated seat is and move around to stay in the shade. There’s an informal spectator area under one of the scoreboards where you can just sit casually on grass and stone terracing. All food and drink are provided by street vendors in this part of the stadium. There are no formal restaurants or bars. The public address announcements were as relaxed as the rest of the experience. A couple of DJs provide musical entertainment and there are cheer leader dancers with one of them. One thing to look out for is the Eastern Caribbean/US dollar confusion with the food and drink stalls. It’s all too easy to pay the EC dollar price with US dollars, which ramps up the price two and a half times! Sad to see so few local supporters, but unfortunately the stadium is a long way from anywhere and for many islanders it can take two or three bus rides to get there, which is a big disincentive.

Great day at Test
Feb 2019 • Couples
A lovely ground about 12 years old and in great condition.
Went to second day of Test.
It’s in middle of nowhere really so need a cab to get there.
We bought $35 seat tickets at kiosk and as others say there is no policing where you sit so grab anywhere. You can buy a $15 ticket for ground only but hey ho let’s help the cricketing guys out in Windies.
Good selection of food and drink readily available at rear of ground.
