A great family adventure on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway (BRSR) starts at the historic depot, built in 1905, in downtown Blue Ridge, Georgia. This charming mountain village is nestled in the lush Chattahoochee National Forest and is known for it’s pleasant and unique shopping with friendly folks and an old-time atmosphere.

Total excursion is 26 miles (4 hours round-trip) winding along the beautiful Toccoa River in passenger’s choice of vintage, climate controlled rail cars or open-air rail cars arriving in the quaint sister towns of McCaysville, Georgia and Copperhill, Tennessee.

Passengers have a 2 hour layover in McCaysville/Copperhill; plenty of time to eat lunch, shop for unique crafts and antiques, snack on ice cream, or walk across the old bridge in town to view the river.

My husband and I were looking for an adventure. We hopped aboard the train! The weather was cold so we took along blankets, gloves, hats. It was a good experience however I wanted to see mountains but only seen houses. Alot of new homes in the area along the tracks. The view of the river is amazing. The guide was... More

My husband and I decided to take a train ride thru the woods of Blue Ridge to Tennessee and loved it! The conductor and the staff were excellent! The refreshments offered were wonderful....hot chocolate on a cold day with little sandwiches and a taste of fudge were among the refreshments offered. The conductor's narration of the history of the surroundings... More

The train ride was a lot of fun and our car guide was extremely funny and friendly. He even offered to take group pictures for folks. We road in an open air car and needed blankets to stay warm. I am glad the ticket reservations staff told us to be sure to bring blankets. It was fine in the open... More

We were so excited to take the New Year's eve train ride. When I called it sounded like such a good deal. I was told it was $150 a couple which included live entertainment, party favors three drinks each your choice of either beer or wine, hors d'oeuvres and then a toast at the end of the night. I was... For $150 charge per couple the experience was not a good one. 1. The box of "food" could not have been more disgusting. Soggy crackers,, weird pieces of raw meat (procsutto-i think). It appreared to be that someone needed to clean out a refrigerator, so they came up with this idea of a box of "appetizers". Small sandwiches, cheese, fruit... More

The train ride was a lot of fun. We road in an open car. It was chilly but loved it! The conductor and staff were so friendly and enjoyable. The views and scenery were beautiful. The ride to McCaysville was about a hour. There's not much to do in McCaysville/Copperhill but it is a quant little town. Several little shops... More

The trip is a slow journey from Blue Ridge to McCaysville and back. It is peaceful and pretty. McCaysville is a nice little shopping place, especially for Christmas stuff.

We went on the Santa Train with our 4 and a half year old granddaughter, family and friends. Everyone old and young had a wonderful time. It is a little over an hour, but did not seemed rushed at all. We sang Christmas songs and were visited by The Grinch, Frosty, Santa, Mrs. Claus and some elves.
