Fort Immerhof is a fort of the Maginot Line built from 1930 to 1935. Its purpose was to protect the road and the railroad between Luxembourg and Thionville. The outside is cleaned of the brushwood; the blocks and the barbed wires can be seen. The interior can be visited : combat blocks, mortar turret, quarters, power plant,..... A park place and a reception with toilets are available. The exterior can be accessed all year long. Access : motorway A31, exit 44, follow "Hettange-Grande, Volmerange-les-Mines, Kanfen".

A fantastic place to visit it is very well preserved a superb guide to take you round. This is very much like how it was on the 1940's and well worth visiting. It is interesting to all ages.

Immerhof is an excellent chance to see a petit ouvrage in part restored to the condition it was in as war broke out - thanks to the tremendous efforts of volunteers over the years. Having seen other ouvrages in various states of abandonment and decay...More

Thank you for visiting and enjoying Fort Immerhof. The easiest way to find Fort Immerhof is by the freeway A31, exit 44. First there are signs "Ligne Maginot" and then "Fort Immerhof". The fort is located at 3 km from the freeway.

The fort is in a good state of preservation, with a system of combat bunkers and gun turrets. It is apparently run and maintained by local volunteers who are quite enthusiastic about their charge. It has a small museum and shop and near the entrance...More

I was fascinated to visit this site as I am deeply interested in WWII history, and although the Maginot Line was a poorly though out ineffective construction it is a glimpse into history. The tour itself is great, although you should wear something warm in...More
