The trail circles the reservoir and offers several challenging hills for fitness walking and running. The views are gorgeous, with interesting things to see with each new season.

This place is gorgeous and I love doing runs or walks here. The trails are well maintained and it is clean. The only thing I would say is if you are female take someone with you because there are some very secluded spots.

This is not a casual walk in the woods! There are several steep hills that we get your heart pumping. By reading other reviews, we wore hiking boots and were prepared for the trail. The trail is crushed rock, pressed red clay and sometimes smooth...More

Excellent hiking/walking trail around the lake...offers a chance to relax and enjoy nature without being too far from civilization. Our dogs enjoy the experience because they know that near the end of the trail there’s a shallow flowing stream in which they can wade. There...More

The trail around Lake Zwerner is well maintained and wide, but still rugged. It's pretty hilly and it's done with gravel and dirt. So, it's a great trail, but be prepared for a work-out. The further you get from the parking area the more peaceful...More

By reading other reviews we were aware that some parts of the trail would be steep, so we wore the appropriate hiking boots. The weather was perfect & it was an enjoyable experience.

This Trail follows Lake Zwerner , aka Yahoola Creek Reservoir. It is about a 3.3 mile loop and has several up and down none of which are terribly steep but will require some moderate workout. It will get your heart rate up, not just an...More

I hiked the trail with my puppy the day the rains stopped from Irma. (The Tropical Storm) There were at least 4 trees blocking the trail. My puppy (Dixie) and I had to navigate around each obstacle. We had fun doing it, but it did...More

We enjoyed our hike at Lake Zwerner very much. It was long enough to give us a good workout, especially since it involved a couple of relatively steep climbs. The only reason I'd give it a four and not a five is because there is...More

We live in Dahlonega and watched as this lake was made. After years of enjoying the view from the damn and road we finally decided to take a late afternoon stroll around the lake. About half way we were questioning our decision and if we...More

Hi, I'm not sure of the lake size. There's no swimming, but I do often see folks fishing from small fishing boats. That's about it. I hope that helps. The trail is 3.16 miles and can get quite steep in a few locations... More
