Access to the walkway from the parking lot is super easy. No charge to use the walkway. There is always a cool breeze blowing from the lake to keep you from getting too hot while you walk - definitely helping out with those hot Georgia summer temps! I love this place! I'll come again and again. FYI to Newcomers: You... More

The Hartwell dam was built back in the 60' by the Corps of Engineers. You can get a good view of it from highway 29 out of Anderson. They also have a good parking area if you like to walk. The best time to visit is when they let off excess water when the lake gets too high.

One of the best unique attractions for Hart County. Located on the head of the Savannah River. The dam was built back in the 1960's creating "Lake Hartwell". There are not many dams to see of this size anywhere in this part of the Southeast. The major highway US 29 has a bridge that goes right over the river with... More

Great view, good location to take pictures. It's a dam. On the SC, Georgia Border as you pass through Hartwell a good place to allow yourself a distraction.

Interesting and beautiful...take the kids and plan a tour. The surrounding lake is full of awesome beauty, parks, picnic areas, and the Corp of Engineers office is also an educational visit. Lucky to have this facility in our area.

This is a great place to walk, ride a bike or run. We even take card board boxes and slide down the hills as if they were snow covered. There is a small playground for children and picnic tables with grills available too. There is also an open area for frisbee or football or soccer. When the water is up... More
