Call US Forest Service 706.754.6221 to check status. FS Road 44 to Upper Chattahoochi campground and Horsetrough Falls is closed due to March storm & tornado. These falls are uniquely beautiful and we will visit there again next year.

On the trip to Helen GA we tried to visit almost all the falls and every single one had its own beaty, I highly recommend to do all of them since they are all different.

The gravel one-lane road to the campground parking area is about 5 miles from Hwy 75 via FS 44. From there, it is a short, easy walk to the platform at the base of this 50-foot falls near the source of the Chattahoochee River.

The waterfall is located at the back of a campground, which itself is located deep inside the Chattahochee Wilderness Area. From where we entered it was supposed to be a 4.2 mile drive, but we tracked it closer to 5 miles, and it was a...More

Access is about 5 miles at 10-15 mph on a gravel forest service road but you wont see many tourists; in fact, in 3 visits I don't think we've ever seen anyone else.
