We spent the day on Jekyll Island and the beach was the only place that was buggy. I say down on a towel while my kids were playing in the sand and I kept getting bit by flies and little tiny black bugs. I ended...More

This is a beautiful stretch of beach with sand dunes and sea oats and other grasses. They have picnic tables and shelters with a nice restroom facility. The dunes were not huge compared to Kill Devil Hills, but more so than an average flat beach.

This is one of several public beaches on Jekyll Island. If you are not staying for the night, where you can just go to the beach from your hotel, this place is just what you need. It has a pavillion with picnic tables, changing rooms...More

This has a great view of the ocean and it is a large covered pavillion. We have had many a "picnic" here at Great Dunes and enjoyed the breeze.

The beach area is very clean with bathrooms and an outdoor shower to rinse off sandy feet. At low tide we walked out on the sand bar and saw little fish, a ray, and a small (12 inch or so) shark in the shallow water....More

I watched my first turtle release at this beach. Lots of parking. Lots of beach space. Showers and restrooms. Food options close by but great to spend the day and bring your own food.

We attended an outdoor event here in late July. Went through some bad rains on the way here, but was met with clear skys upon our arrival. They had plenty of covered benches and tables, and clean restrooms. A great time was had by all.

The beach is gorgeous. You have a clear view to the horizon. The sand is fine, not rocky. No lifeguards! However, there are signs warning of string currents. It was not crowded.

It has no boardwalk that I know of and I think it would be very hard to navigate with a walker.
