The story of the Rose Cottage was especially interesting. Also interesting to hear the ties to Oliver Hardy.

If you visit Heritage Hall first you will find this lacking-best to do in reverse. It quite near the visitors center. We were the only visitors that morning so had the hostess to ourselves. She did a good job with what she had to work...More

Lisa was our docent and guided our family through both houses. The Rogers house, built in 1809 by Reuben Rogers and is complete with period furnishings. She provided the details of the original family. There have only been 17 owners of this house. This was...More

If you've come all this way, you might as well stop here. The best part is Rose Cottage. Afterwards, we went looking for the grave and marker of its former owner in the city cemetery.

Go to Tourist Center and get the audio walking tour on a lovely day. We spent most of our time outside rather than entering each building but listened to the audio for each location. Beautiful old fashioned Southern venue near Atlanta.

It was recommended we visit Heritage Hall first, then these two houses, in order to understand the strata of society in 19th century Madison. That was good advice. This tour was oess detailed and took about 30 minutes total, but it rounded out the picture.

Nice tour with a personal touch. Good look at how the middle class lived "back in the day." Offers a package to go with Heritage Hall.

Both of these adjacent houses provide an interesting slice of Madison's history. Rogers House is the oldest remaining house in town and is still on the original lot. Rose Cottage is named after "Miss Rose", an African-American lady born into slavery who bought the lot,...More

Yes I think the below is correct...about $15 for all three which is extremely reasonable! Think the hours of operations were about 10 - 5.
