Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Officer Lopez came and got us from the lower level of the museum to invite us to the main Bay to sit in the large fire truck and get a mini fire helmet. He gave us an overview of the station, showed us the fire pole which they no longer need to use. He turned the lights on in the big truck and let us sit in the cab! Then they got a call and had to leave but waved as they went out to do their duty! My granddaughter had a ball! And so did Nana and Papa! Well done Mr Lopez.

Very disappointed here ......no personnel around to assist. Lots of hoopla about the museum, but really not much to see as to fire engines. One old pumper and one engine, lots of fire hats and photos ...... better at other fire stations. A long drive for nothing.

Maybe the museum changed? Not sure how some commenters spent an hour there. Yes the museum is small, about 5 trucks and cars. Maybe spent about 30 min there and saw everything twice. DON'T PARK IN THE SUGGESTED GARAGE WITHOUT GETTING YOUR TICKET VALIDATED! I'm not sure if they changed their system, the garage scans a ticket so I'm not sure how they validate parking. We didn't see anyone at the museum and figured it wasn't worth it to hunt someone down. Well, parking is $20 (!) at that little deck. What a waste of money and nowhere does it state the rate for parking. What a waste of money.

We parked in the small deck on Marietta, as another commenter suggested. It worked out great. We did have to hunt down a fireman to stamp the ticket, and there was no one in the museum to tell us about it. That was fine for my crew of 11. We spent about an hour there, and learned a good bit. "Free" ranks high on my list, with such a large family. It was a nice educational stop to break up travel from Atlanta.

This museum is small but our 4 and 2 year old really enjoyed it. The old trucks are so cool to see and the museum is not difficult to access as several have commented. The GPS took us right to it and we parked across the street. The firemen were very kind to my children and let them climb inside their trucks. They have restrooms there and everyone is very friendly. You cannot climb in or on antique trucks, which is understandable. Will go back in a few years.

Here's a hint: park in the small 2 story parking deck between Marietta City Hall and the Post office, on Lawrence St., visit the fire museum and get your ticket stamped by your tour guide. This museum is small but very well done. Good for adults as well as kids. History of the department, equipment and vehicles all displayed. Tour guide Steve was very knowledgeable (firefighter himself) and friendly. Free, donations welcome.

The Marietta Fire Department Museum is small, but well appointed. It does a great job of telling the history of the department from a chronological timeline to various pieces of equipment and even a 911 dispatching system that was purchased in 1975 for $26,901 and used until 1997. However, my favorite items were the six pieces of fire apparatus- the most impressive being Aurora, an 1879 steam engine. MFD has done a fantastic job with keeping their history alive!

This is a small museum, but very interesting especially for the smaller grand kids, reminds them of Paw Patrol. There are old fire engines, and fire fighting equipment. One of the fireman gave the kids a tour and let them climb on one of the newer fire engines. Good free trip for an hour or so to entertain the kids.

Went on a Sunday afternoon. Was free and a good way to spend a few minutes checking out the exhibits.
