Pleasant visit

The staff was very friendly and cooperative. The park was easy to navigate around. The fort walking tour was neat and the grounds well kept.

Started off shakey. There was a parking fee that was not mentioned and it took the guard a few minutes to get out of his chair to collect the fee. Not a big deal but just sort of lazy. Then again expecting free and $9.00 for adults to tour the fort. Did thoroughly enjoy the walk though the three mile... More

This was a beautiful location for a trail run. We went around 7 PM, the trail is wide and clear. the foliage is amazing, it made us feel like we were running through a rainforest. There is a lookout halfway through the run were you can see the salt marshes and take photos. Wonderful family excursion.

Museum provides a detailed story of the decisive aspects of important local battles supported by artifacts, videos, panoramas and displays all very well arranged and presented. Helpful, knowledgeable staff and volunteers. Cabins and campground are excellent for this type of facility as are the picnic area, playgrounds, nature, walking and biking trails Many programs are offered to include reenactments, nature... We booked this hip pocket state park when Skidaway Island was full. We were delighted by our stay here. It is flat everywhere, perfect for bicycle rides for us oldsters. It seems like they have a lot of camp host (4) volunteers for such a small park, but they were nice and unobtrusive. The bathhouses were clean. Firewood was reasonable.... More

Enjoyed a visit to McAllister State Park today. Never had been to a fort that wasn't built with stones & bricks. This is quite an amazing place. Beautiful scenery too..

Stop at Publix on your way in. There's not much in the way of grocery stores near the park. The lady who checked us in was extremely nice & helpful. The sites on the right as you pull in are marsh front and relatively big. As they face west, the sunsets are beautiful. As you enter, there is firewood for... More

Ft McAllister is a Richmond Hill and Georgia state gem! We travel here often to walk through the fort, go on a hike, fish from the pier, or camp in the spacious grounds. The staff is friendly and accommodating. If you go to the Fort, make sure to watch the video in the museum area first. It is very well... More

Thus is a very quiet, secluded campground on the shore of a large salt marsh. There is a boat launch and large picnic area. There are some "cottages" that are very large. We were camping in the campground, but I would recommend checking the cottages out for groups.
