The carving is amazing. The detail is incredible and the shadows make it look almost real. The grounds in front of the carving has a small pedestal featuring a little history of each flag of each State that fought with the Confederacy. These were very interesting because they provided a Confederate point of view, which was not necessarily wrong -... More

A stunning sculpture by Gutzon Borglum the same sculptor as Mount Rushmore. From the ground the actual size is quite deceiving. If you take the tram to the top of the mountain the actual size of the is breathtaking

This man-made piece of art, whatever you may think of the subjects in it, is a remarkable sight to behold. It truly is the Mount Rushmore of the South. Definitely be here before 6pm because you won't be able to see it (at least in Fall) after that. It gets to dark at night too see it. If you want... More

This large carving is exceptional. Beware that the laser show doesn't take place during the Christmas at Stone Mountain.

We love Stone Mountain and the carving is one of the reasons. Until you have seen it, you can never appreciate the exquisite detail and marvel of this carving. Best viewed before the winter months as you can see it with the laser show. During the winter, the laser is suspended to make way for Snow Days.

The carving is beautiful and worth seeing. Be sure to stop in the visitor center. There are 2 movies that are interesting to see. It was a colorful fall day. The downside is that it is commercialized. They were creating snow as we walked around it. I don't think that has been done yet to Mount Rushmore but it has... More

The mountain was a fabulous all day event. For $15 per car you can enter Stone Mountain, hike up the mountain, hike around the mountain, picnic, and then see the carving and laser show. There are plenty of ways to spend more money, but it is not necessary to have a great day.

The walking trails were wheelchair friendly so all in our party could easily move about the park and enjoy.

This is awesome! The amount of detail and the work involved in finishing something of this magnitude if overwhelming. I am a history buff and found this a very emotional sight. We should appreciate this part of our history and make every effort to preserve our landmarks.
