Very disappointed that the light house closed for another month. We did not tour the rest of the grounds since you still had to pay admission even though you could not go into lighthouse

We had to purchase a ticket to walk around the grounds of the lighthouse which was being renovated. We elected not to do so, because we could walk around the outside of the fenced area and see everything up close and personal. It is a pretty area, and the tallest lighthouse in Georgia.

This is a must see if you visit Tybee Island. The climb to the top takes a few minutes and the steps can be dangerous for children, but once up there the view is nice and the breeze wonderful. Volunteers are available, on the ground, to educate you about the lighthouse and fort. They are well versed and love what... More

Lots of history associated with this 200+ year old light house. Nice museum. Can climb steps (I think 77) and look out over the Atlantic Ocean.

Couldn't ask for a better place for a little exercise and ship watching. The Tybee Island Lighthose and museum is one of my favorite places in Georgia. I am very fortunate to live here and never get tired of seeing our Lighthose everyday. It's been a working lighthouse for over a century and if I could climb those 178 steps... More

The museum grounds and buildings are well kept, and they even have a vegetable garden, which was interesting. The lighthouse itself has a lot of stairs and it gets narrow at the top (it's a lighthouse so that's going to happen) so it's not for the faint of heart, but if you can navigate the stairs, the payoff of the... Visited in December 2016 with my family. Drove to Tybee Island from Savannah, were we stayed. Found the museum very informative and interesting. The view for the lighthouse beautiful. The lighthouse homes an antiquities were well preserved and taken care of as well as the grounds.Truly enjoyed the morning.

We stayed on Tybee Island and visited the lighthouse and museum while here. Such great history and well preserved lighthouse homes. Decorated how they would have been in the early 1900s. The historical society has done an exceptional job keeping this up.
