Must see whilst in Croatia, stunning!
Aug 2020
These caves were not on our radar when we planned our trip to Croatia but when we visited Klis Fortress we saw signs so made a note and headed back there. We were absolutely astounded at how beautiful these caves are, the colours of stalagmites and stalactites were so varied and like nothing we had seen before. The size of the cave is also like nothing else, normally you are walking through narrow tunnels whereas this is like a huge room filled with incredibly beauty. It doesn't take long to see the whole thing but you will want to linger and take in the beauty of them. The men who run it are very relaxed and give you a nice over view of the history and facts about the caves and then you are free to wander, it is the most relaxing cave visit we've had and would recommend this as a must see if you are in this area of Croatia. Our family are me, hubby, 14 year old and 3 year old and we all loved it. There is also a lovely rockery/garden that you could sit and picnic in afterwards.

One of the wonders in the Earth
Jul 2019
This is one of the best things I have seen in my entire life. The Cave is amazing. I highly recommend the visit to anyone.
This Cave is managed by the grandson of the person who invented the cave.
The Gradson ( our guide) was amazing and his English was excellent. He explained a lot about the cave.
Their ticket price is very low and Trust me that the place is more worth than the ticket price.
So your tips and contributions to protect the place is something you need to absolutely think of.

Tip: Wear proper shoes as cave can be bit slippery.

Off the beaten path

We visited the caves as part of an organized trip. The road to the cave is quite a challenging one - steep serpentine and then some more walking. You should call before you arrive, as in winter season the visits are limited. The caves go down 60 and 100m below the surface, so be ready for some climbing, although not to die for. The guide/caretaker was telling about the caves, showing the various stone formations. The caves have been found by the grandfather of that person and is family business ever since. There is also a toilet and some drinkable water. There are some really nice view in the cave and you spend quality time. Again - better call before visiting, the guy spoke some English and some limited Russian.

Great Caves
Jun 2019 • Family
What a fab find this was. Not a huge cave but still lots to see and relatively unknown I think. There was only our group of 4 and another family in the caves when we visited. The owners have looked after the caves for generations and are very knowledgeable. You can wander through at your own pace and take in all the natural rock formations. There’s a little kiosk at the top which sells drinks and a toilet. I would recommend approaching this by road from Dugopolje as the road is good. We approached it from Liska over the hill and it’s single track, steep and in need of repair. But once close to the caves they are well signposted. It’s a must see!

Super Cave!
May 2019 • Family
This is a must visit for cave/rock/nature lovers. I highly reccommend going to Kils Fortress first then going here afterwards to cool off and decompress.

You can drive up almost to the entrance, there are several parking areas along the gravel road so if it is not busy, keep driving to get a closer spot. You pay to enter at the little cabin through the gates where you can enjoy a drink in the shade or walk around to the garden area. It was raining when we went, but the tree cover was enough to keep us dry as there were not many people.

Our almost 5 year old handled all the stairs really well, definitely better than we did! This is NOT wheelchair accessible and if you have problems with stairs or slippery surfaces then this is probably not the best place.

The sights in the cave are a true wonder. The stalactites and stalagmites are so well formed and the cave is lit up enough to enjoy them but not so overpowering that you forget you are in a cave. Highly reccomended!

Amazing caves
Apr 2019 • Friends
These amazing family owned caves, close to Split, are well worth visiting. There are a few hundred steps down and up, but if you take it slowly most people should be able to safely visit all the chambers. We were fortunate to have the owner talk about the caves and show us some of his favorite formations.

Brilliant cave
Apr 2019 • Friends
Beautiful cave, away from the usual tourist traps. Head to Klis and then over to the caves; friendly guide and well worth the trip out of Split. We did via Uber’s there (86kn to Klis and 86kn to the caves) and then a taxi back (300kn) to the centre of Split

Amazing place to visit
Sep 2018 • Couples
This is a great place to visit if you are staying near split, Even with our satnav we found it difficult to find the right road that leads to the enterance of the cave. Once there tho the owner gave us a brief history about his family owned cave and told us the best way to view it. Once inside it was spectacular, The temperature dropped to a cool 15 degrees which added to the experience. Following the path from the main enterance down, entering the second cavern your first word is wow. It is massive and incredible, full of stalagmites and stalagtites in weird shapes. It is well lit ans the paths are clear but can be a bit slippy in places so watch your footing. Lots of areas to explore, Flash photography is not allowed but there it enough light to get good snaps. the owner said that they are trying to expand the route even deeper into the cave. A fantastic experience not far from Split.

Natural wonder
Aug 2018 • Couples
I`ve visited this place with my boyfriend. the cave has been taken care by the family on whoms land it was discovered,.and the`re doing an amazing job at cave presentation and preservation accompanied with maximum respect towards this natural wonder. We came by car, there are signs along the road from nearby Split, it takes 45min. All in all a great day, great visit. What i liked the most is the fact that it isnt too commercialized by local tourism like for example the Blue cave in Vis, and it really is a special site to see.highly recommended for genuine nature lovers.
