I live in the area and always take visitors to Ft Tyler. It's free and a nice place to visit but that said there isn't much to it and it isn't a huge fort. A nice bit of history in the local area. I wouldn't...More

This was the last fort to realize the North had won the civil war...yep they were still fighting after the war was declared over...just a very neat little place in the middle of nowhere. Worth a trip if you are in to civil war history.

This is a very interesting place to visit if you like history about the civil war and you can walk up to the fort and the real cannons.

Interesting little known site. For a battle that was fought after the surrender of R.E. Lee. A bit of a up hill walk but well worth it

Nice recreated earthworks fort in the middle of a small town in Georgia. Very quiet and peaceful area. My only complaint was that the top of the hill where the fort is located was covered in trash.

Made a trip through West Point and stopped here for a visit. The location isn't very big or well known, but it was the final fort of the Civil War. It has been restored to original conditions and plaques going up to the fort provide...More

This location has been restored by Auburn University and the City of West Point to it's original condition. The paved walk to the top of the fort is lined with plagues engraved with information on the location.

That Battle of West Point was April 16, 1865....one full week after Lee's surrender. That's why you should visit Fort Tyler. It's beautifully restored, small enough to understand, and well marked and documented. Take your family there ....the children will love it.
