We went to the Butterfly Park which is located within the same area to Poring Hot Spring. It was just a small area and nothing much to see. It looks like it is not well maintained. Not many butterflies can be found. Even if you don’t visit the place you will not lose much. We didn’t spend much time here.

The hotspring it not that great, hottubs in an open space. You will get overheated rather quickly. The canopywalk is nice and also the walk to the waterfalls. If you stick your feet in the river the fish will clean your feet. No need to go to another place for those fish, what is better than the experience in nature itself?

We visited on a weekday - a previous review says the tubs are empty. Yes, they were, but that is so as not to waste water. The taps (one hot spring water tap, one cold water) are there for you to fill at your leisure. We clambered up to the Canopy Walk - it's a bit of a hike, but well worth the effort! Also visited the serene and informative butterfly garden and information centre. My husband and I sat in the pool at the base of Kipungit Waterfall, while our daughters trekked off to see the bat cave. I was surprised by 'sucker' fish, nibbling at my toes - you know, the ones you pay for in the 'fish massage' places? And I got mine for free! There are also sites for a rafflesia garden (world' largest flower), and an orchid site. I think this place is underrated, and offers so much for someone who has a morning / day to spare

Poring basically has a lot of activities can be done. U can hike in Poring Hot Spring to reach the 2 waterfalls there. Kipungit waterfall can be reach out around 20 minutes from the entrance of the Poring Hot Spring and Lagganan Waterfall can be reach by 2-3 hours.
The view and the nature absolutely beautiful. The track consider moderate to difficult to some area but it's really worth it.
We can also climbed for a canopy walk in Poring Hot Spring with a very minimal payment and also payment for the camera or gadgets. The canopy walk is a great experience for those who is acrophobic or alto-phobic that want to challenge themselves on the high place. The trail going to the canopy walk quite easy with elevated small steps provided but it's quite challenging for those with knee problems and unfit for it. You need to climb around 500m towards the canopy walk and it took around 20. Consist of 5 canopy walk and each one around 175-200 Meters long and 41-43 Meters in height, which is higher than a 8-floor building.
The entrance to Poring Canopy Walkway is about 835 Meters away from park entrance. It is open from 9am to 4pm daily.
The walkway is an elastic structure, so it will bounce and swing when we walk on it. Some find this thrilling, while some think it’s scary!!!

This place is all about walking and hiking ... though most people come here for the hot spring , because it was a hot and sticky day hubs and i were more interested in the Rock pool which was ice cold.. hehehe not only that we even hike and walked on the canopy walk.. although there's a different entrance fee for the canopy and butterfly farm ... So be aware of the different fees charged .... Cameras are charged as well .. so mayb if u come in a group pay for one camera and use that camera to take loads of pictures....

We didn't try the hot spring because it was too crowded on Sunday. However, we were so excited while walking through the 41 meters tree-top canopy walk and enjoyed the Borneo tropical rainforest! It was fun and adventure, especially children were very happy with it!
On the way to the Poring Hot Spring, we were lucky that we have chance for seeing the Rafflesia flower, the biggest flower in the world! The flower will only bloom for less than a week then will decay, and it blooms unexpectedly any time of year. If it is in the blooming period, you can see some handmade signboard at the roadside while on the way to the Poring Hot Spring. Hence, make sure to ask your driver to pay attention on that. The local people will bring you walk into the forest for seeing the Rafflesia, and RM10 per person. But you will not because of wish to save the 10 bucks and miss the chance of seeing it! The local people will use the 10 bucks for making small fences to protect the Rafflesia and making bridge for us so that we have easier way to walk into the forest. Hence, I consider it is still worth the price after we saw the local people really do some preservation of the nature.
On the way to Poring Hot Spring, you can have a stop at Nabalu Market, which the traditional handicrafts are much cheaper than other places, and remember always bargain the price.

Poring is located in the lowlands of Ranau. The hot spring water is the best stress relieve to soak away the sores and aches of your muscles in the natural spring’s hot sulphuric minerals, deemed to have healing properties and very popular among the locals. Visitors may chose open tubs to experience natural hot spring soaking, which is free for open tubs or enclosed tubs with fee of RM15 for twin tub. Surrounding are also other interesting areas in the park not to be missed such as the butterfly farm, the Poring Orchid Conservation Centre, the tropical garden, the Poring canopy walkway, and the Rafflesia flower site.

We stayed in the River lodge. OK, so the small water tank doesn't enable you to have a deep bath, but that didn't bother us. 2 great bedrooms, 2 enormous bathrooms, 3 sitting decks, 2 separate sittings areas, good air con and cable TV. Right next to river and entrance to the nature reserve. No internet but there is some at the resort restaurant (although not fast). Better wifi at Round Inn cafe near the car park (2min walk away).
Staff were very professional and friendly. Additional service offered to see Rafflesia flower if one is blooming nearby. A guide drove us less than 10 mins to see one on a local fruit farm. RM30 each is a bit steep but it's a rare opportunity and hopefully it encourages the locals to nurture these amazing flowers.

I was there recently with a group of friends for a day trip in the afternoon.it was during a weekday and we found the place to be rather quiet and peaceful. I visited this place more than 10 years ago after my climb up to Mt Kinabalu. The place has not changed at all. It is about 3-3.5 hous drive from Kota Kinabalu city. The entance fee is RM3 for locals and RM15 for foreigners. It is well worth the fees. Operation time is from 7am to 6pm. The canopy walk is opened from 9am to 4pm. l missed it as we spent lots of time at the Kipungit waterfall. This park has many attractions such as the butterfly farm, the hotsprings which is it main attraction, the Poring canopy walk, tropical garden,a museum, the Langanan trail, the Kipungit waterfall and cave. The distance to the Kipingit waterfall is about 500 metres over a natural tropical raineforest where you can see all types of trees. The trail is a bit uneven and you need to bring good walking shoes. At the Kipungit waterfall, you can take a dip into the pool which is 2-3 feet deep. This waterfall is about 10 feet tall and there is two other smaller waterfalls. There are many spots to take photographs especially the tree cover and various types of plants and trees. The hotsprings that is located not far from the main entrance is tiled and divided into a few pools which is about 3-4 feet deep. For those who donot want to dip their body into the pool, there is a pool for sitting. There is also a rock pool amde up of rocks lined in a circular fashion. The chagning room cum bathroom is quite clean. l didnot go for the Langanan trails as it would take 2/3 hours return. In this attraction, there is also accommodation and a restaurant and souvenir shop. All in all l enjoyed my self and was refreshed.
