I am very fortunate to live in such close proximity to the Sawtooth Mountain Range. Since childhood, I've spent a great deal of time in these mountains and have never taken them for granted. It is in this range I find adventure, beauty, solace and comfort. While visiting Ketchum, please make the effort to journey 40 minutes north of town... More

Miles and miles of beauty. This is a magnificent area. (I would say awesome. But it's such a useless, over-used word, isn't it?) See all the photos here? They don't come close to the reality. And, even then - right in the middle of it all - it's hard to believe.

Born and raised in Idaho, traveled the world for pleasure and business, but always delight in the returning to the Sawtooth Mountains in Central Idaho, undiscovered by most main stream travelers, a little out of the way, but worthy of the inconvenience. Ketchum to Stanley Idaho such a nice stop at Redfish Lake, Stanley Lake, a visit to Marsh Creek,... More

Gorgeous vistas; amazing drives; beautiful lakes. It was stunningly beautiful in the fall foliage (mid-September). This time is between the summer and winter ski seasons, so very quiet and peaceful.

Great hiking, wildlife watching and beautiful scenery. A great place to get away from it all and feel the silence and beauty of Idaho wilderness.

A "must see" trip for Idahoans, especially if you are in and around Boise...take 75 through Ketchum/Sun Valley and up to Stanley, then wind back to Boise on 21...great vistas, wonderful scenery.

We backpacked across Sawtooths July 22-27 as part of trek across Idaho from Hailey to Salmon. Trails from Petit Lake heavily used and dusty from horses & so many hikers. But the lakes and passes are incredible! Baron Lakes in middle of range& Sawtooth Lake not to be missed. But you will share your experience with many other hikers! Come... More

The mountains themselves are quite spectacular and Sawtooth is a very apt name. Twisting mouth twin roads offer wonderful views around every corner. The Salmon River runs by the side of the road and has great trout fishing.

This was great. Be sure and stop just outside Ketchum at the SNRA visitors center. The Ranger was so helpful. They have a CD you can listen to as you drive to Stanley. It gives you info as you go by mile markers. Wonderful self guided tour. Only downside was a fire in Boise National Forest really threw a haze... More
