Easy hike if you do the gondola, very strenuous if you want to make it so

I’m not a particularly seasoned nor toned hiker…my wife hikes all the time but not me. We also have a 16 month old. Based on these two variables we decided to take the gondola ride to the top of Mt Baldy. That works way better for me and made it pleasant for our son too, after some initial anxiety about... More

This is a beautiful area, even if you're not a skier. We were here in late September, and there is much to see and do. Walking. Hiking. Sightseeing. Shopping. All for you, surrounded by some of nature's finest sights! And if you have a dog, it's a great place for exercise and sniffing around, too. There were plenty of dogs... More

Started skiing Baldy in 1951. 65 years later, it's still the best skiing I've ever had. 3400 feet of vertical, with something for every one. Even beginners. The groomers run all night, every night, to give you a perfect surface. If it doesn't snow, the snow making system, with super cooled water, will give you the best artificial snow there... More

Bald Mountain- or Baldy- is the best overall ski mountain in North America for all classes of skiing (except beginning for which Sun Valley has a separate mountain).

An expensive trip cut down by shallow, careless, and rude people: One woman, a local, literally threw her skis at me while I was waiting for my husband at the lodge. Perhaps the lovely memories of skiing from childhood can only be recreated in an atmosphere that cares less about how much money is spent and more about how much... More

Took the gondola and lift up to the summit. On the way back down, we stopped at the Roundhouse Restaurant. We had a great lunch on the outdoor deck. Great views and quality food! We didn't have to wait for a table - had no reservations.

We took the gondola up Baldy Mountain to the Roundhouse Restaurant for the views and lunch. Eat on the outside terrace under an umbrella to enjoy the big vistas. The food is ski type and little above average. You can also take the Christmas lift higher up the mountain and hike the 2.3 miles back to the Roundahouse gondola. This... More

We took the gondola from River Run partway up the mountain (~10 mins), then an open chairlift further up (~10 mins). The views on the ride and at each destination were beautiful. We were also lucky enough with our timing to see two paragliders (one tandem) launch from the area behind the Roundhouse. Relaxing and enjoyable.

This mountain is no joke: breathtaking views while you ski down the mountain's steep runs. It's a very large resort so there are lots of trails to try, appropriate for intermediate & up level skiers.

Baldy gives the skier a true 3,400 +/- feet of vertical skiing. The grooming is first class and when they groom runs like Limelight, International, Upper and Lower Picabo, you will experience fast skiing nirvana.
