Plug "River Run Lodge" into your GPS for accurate directions. There are upper and lower parking lots at no charge, or $50 for valet (Winter). This mountain has so many incredible runs for different skill levels and desires. It's not cheap for a day lift ticket, so save your pennies and do it right. Across from the Lodge is the... More

Sun Valley is a gem. Bald Mountain being the local hill. It's so funny how locals complain about lines. They have never skied in California. Long lines means waiting more than 5 minutes. If you don't go during Xmas/ New Year you can expect no lines and lots of hill. Before you go make sure there is snow and you... More

Sun Valley is a wonderful lovely ski town. PLEASE NOTE: You must rent a car if you like freedom to travel after 4:30 pm. The free busses are lovely -- however they stop running around 4:30 pm. So if you are not at the Sun Valley Resort where they offer free shuttles everywhere, you must have a rental car. Also,... More

This is the place to go for long, long runs with a constant slope. The mountain is spectacular to ski, simply put, its the best. Everyone is incredibly hospitable at the mountain. The lift operators greet you and help you with your stuff. The parking lot attendants will help you unload your car into a blue wagon and pull it... More

Amazing beauty in this, a hub of Idaho outdoor activity. The hiking in the surrounding Pioneer and Boulder Ranges is fantastic. A little more than an hours drive to either the Sawtooths or Lost River Range is an added plus of enormous quality. Hiking, skiing, snow shoe, bike, rock climbing, pick your poison. As for Sun Valley, history of stardom... More

I’m not a particularly seasoned nor toned hiker…my wife hikes all the time but not me. We also have a 16 month old. Based on these two variables we decided to take the gondola ride to the top of Mt Baldy. That works way better for me and made it pleasant for our son too, after some initial anxiety about... More

This is a beautiful area, even if you're not a skier. We were here in late September, and there is much to see and do. Walking. Hiking. Sightseeing. Shopping. All for you, surrounded by some of nature's finest sights! And if you have a dog, it's a great place for exercise and sniffing around, too. There were plenty of dogs... More

Started skiing Baldy in 1951. 65 years later, it's still the best skiing I've ever had. 3400 feet of vertical, with something for every one. Even beginners. The groomers run all night, every night, to give you a perfect surface. If it doesn't snow, the snow making system, with super cooled water, will give you the best artificial snow there... More

Bald Mountain- or Baldy- is the best overall ski mountain in North America for all classes of skiing (except beginning for which Sun Valley has a separate mountain).

Took the gondola and lift up to the summit. On the way back down, we stopped at the Roundhouse Restaurant. We had a great lunch on the outdoor deck. Great views and quality food! We didn't have to wait for a table - had no reservations.
