Well known especially for beginning skiers

Originally meant for beginning skiers of all ages, many senior citizens now choose to ski on Dollar with many new, no-so-difficult runs.

Odd time of the year to write a review! But I realized I never did it. I came here for the first time about 5 years ago, having no experience whatsoever or even been on the snow before. I took a 1.5hr lesson and loved it, and came back the next day. The instructors were great at helping me get... More

We met our friends (also with young kids) here for a day of skiing. We visit Sun Valley a lot in the summer, but haven't been as much in the winter. I wasn't sure what to expect and was hoping to keep all the kids, ranging from 3-11, entertained. Turns out we had SO MUCH FUN! There are a variety... More

This hill was perfect for my first time snowboarding. Each hill got gradually more challenging. The skiers were not rude but there are a lot of children learning to ski on the hill so you have to be aware of them.

This is the perfect option for young kids to have childcare and learn to ski so their parents can hit the slopes at nearby Bald Mountain. Quality instruction for all ages of beginning skiers. Older kids can ski here too as it is a smaller and easier mountain than Baldy. Great mountain for kids to learn on! Nice lodge area... More

We took the kids skiing over the Christmas break. The lessons here were expensive but terrific - patient and experienced instructors and lots of activities to keep the kids engaged. As a vehemently intermediate skier I was bored with the mountain by mid-day, although the backside has some beautiful runs. That said there are worse things than skiing in the... More

This is THE place to learn how to ski or board. Start here before being overwhelmed by the vertical challenges of Baldy. Sun Valley ski school is THE best, not cheap, but the best. Intermediate skiers will be easily bored, if you don't head directly over to the Elkhorn lift. Start here, learn here, get your confidence here. When able... More

The ski instructors are amazing with all ages. I learned to ski here at 2 years old now my boys are learning to ski here too. It's not crowded and the best environment to learn in.

My only regret is that it wasn't named "Carol's Dollar Cabin". In honor of the old tiny favorite cabin of old Sun Valley! A zillion adorable kids running around skiing and being taught to ski. Parents watching with their phones for pictures. Also a great place for us older skiers to just enjoy te simple shorter runs! And the food... More
