Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited the falls via kayak. It was great to be able to walk all around the area. The pillars are awesome. The river rushes through in so many different ways. The kids really enjoyed it because it is rock climbing without much climbing. The power of the water is pretty awe inspiring.

I went to the Visitors center to check on the trail because some people say that it is really steep and loose gravel. Well the parking area is quite small only enough for 3-5 cars. I was with another car parked at the top. The trail down starts off really wide but it is steep and switches back about 5 times before it levels off near the shed. Short choppy steps and careful footing and your fine. The trail goes off to the right and you start heading down. I would say go with the trail once you get to the rocks climbing down to the right it will end up at the bottom in a large primitive sandy camping area. From there you step through and Pillar Falls is right there. Impressive to walk around bring food and water with you great place for picnic. Water level was low for the river so plenty of places to walk around.

We take our visitors to the pontoon boat ride (reasonably priced) and go to Pillar Falls and get out for about 30 minutes to walk around. This can only be done when the water level allows it. Check at the visitor's center for daily info updates.

If the river is low and you have all day, you can put in a kayak just below the Perrine Bridge and paddle up to Pillar Falls, then portage around to paddle all the way to Shoshone Falls. If you don't have all day, Pillar Falls is a great destination for paddling.

On our vacation to Twin Falls Idaho we visited Pillar Falls from an "above lookout" when we were biking on the Ridge Trail. We also visited Pillar Falls by kayak and because the falls were largely dried up we were able to park our kayak and walk around the pillars. It is a beautiful lookout point and also an amazing spot to kayak to. Dont miss it!

This "falls" is underwater most of the spring but then in the late summer and fall when the water levels are lower these rock structures are AMAZING. Definitely worth a trip by kayak to explore these beautiful flat rock formations in the middle of the Snake River!!!

my family were out last week and with the water level's being as high as they were we were not able to walk around the falls, they were completely covered. Still had a great time kayaking up to them but I am sure they would be more impressive when more of them are revealed!

Kayaked to the falls. The pillars were impressive but the falls weren't what I was expecting. I was told that they look more impressive when the water is lower.

Pillar Falls is on the Snake River between the Perrine Bridge and Shoshone Falls. It can be hiked down to on a treacherous access road, however most paddle up on a kayak from Centennial Park. When the water is lower, it is a great destination to paddle to and have a picnic and explore around. I paddled up in late April and the high water flow and strong current talked me into just making a fly by and heading back. You can catch a distant view from the Snake River trail but it is worth it to paddle up in the summer and explore. I think the large pillar in the middle looks like a crouching silver back gorilla, what do you think?
