If you happen to be in Chicago on a Thursday you can enter the museum for free after 5pm. I love the collections that this museum houses. It's a treat for art lovers.

The amount of fine art and culture contained within this building, in the heart of Chicago, makes this place worth a visit. My husband, daughter and I enjoyed the day here and still did not see everything. Get there early and enjoy lunch or wine while you venture through time, viewing some of the world's most famous art pieces. Worth... More

This museum is awesome. One of he best I've been in. I only had a couple hours as I was in Chicago on business, and it wasn't enough time to see all the wonderful artwork. Please give yourself at least four hours. I had to rush through a lot of it.

I cannot get enough of this place. The Art Institute always has amazing specialty exhibits - so check it's website - but their regular exhibits are always exciting. I could spend days just roaming. They also have a great little cafe to re-fuel so you can continue meandering. I think this is one of the top attractions in Chicago, especially... More

Too rich a cultural feast. Can't be done easily in one go. But can't be missed either. Impressionists fabulous . Abstract impressionists etc easy to see, difficult to understand. Staff very eager to help. It is extremely easy to lose your way

We finally had time for the Miniatures exhibit on this visit and will now visit them every time we go. My 11 yr old son and 15 yr old daughter also loved peeking into these tiny rooms. Several were based on homes we've visited, which made it even more exciting. We spend 3 hours in the institute on a Sunday.... More

The miniature Thorne Rooms were a highlight but the rest of the gallery was a very pleasant surprise. Loved the Impressionists! The restaurant food was adequate but not great.

This is one of Chicago's great art museums with a very wide palate. There is a wonderful restaurant and gift shop in the new wing which is itself a work of art.
