The aquarium is a wonderful place to take a family. Maybe even good for a date who loves the sea, but lives in the city. Plan to spend at least four hours if you are taking in all the attractions Shedd has to offer. I advise a visitor to check the internet for peak times. We went at a peak... More

Compared to other aquariums this one was so boring. We did not need to pay to see most of it. The exhibits were old and not interesting. I would skip this one.

My wife and I, our two 18 month olds, and a (much) older son of mine together wis his almost three year old daughter visited The Shedd and had an exceptional time. The children were captivated by all the animals. I found the various exhibits fascinating. The staff was helpful, informative and uniformly pleasant to interact with. It seemed everyone... More

We took our teenage daughter and her friend to Shedds aquarium and it made for an all day adventure. We even visited some of the tanks twice. The staff was engaging with the fish in some of the larger aquariums and we loved it! There is a cafeteria style eatery on site that was rather reasonable and had something for... More

My husband and I went to the Shedd recently with our son and 2 year old granddaughter. It must have been very hard to retrofit an older building for handicapped access. The handicapped entrance is in an inconvenient place, is not protected from the elements, and is a long hike to the door for someone who is handicapped, but ambulatory.... More

Love this place, just not enough time. We got there at 3 pm on a Sat., and it closed at 6 pm. NOW I see all the answers to my questions - so I am telling you - GET THERE EARLY! Ask for a teacher discount, if you are one.

We went on Illinois Residents free day and had a blast. Even with the high volume of visitors, the displays, show, and staff were excellent. A little waiting to get in the door, but no waits after. The sea creatures were beautiful, and facility was clean. Even rented a locker for $0.75 cents for coats. Parking was a short walk... More

We have been members at The Shedd for 15+ years and just visited again yesterday. This is a wonderful place for anyone to spend some quality time. There is so much to see and do. We had scheduled a behind the scenes tour and it was wonderful. In addition to seeing some of the residents up close and personal we... More
