The board of trade is a stunning example of the power and elegance of the Art Deco style in Chicago. Full of carefully thought out details that reflect the importance of trade and the harvest. Gambling on the price of grain led to the invention of futures trading and the wheat motif is reflected throughout. If you visit at Open... More

To see the entire budding you need to go for a scheduled tour with Chicago Architectural Foundation. But if you want to see the lobby just go to the building by yourself. It is free. Best way to enter is the use entrance at the La Salle Street ( actually it is at Jackson Blvd but it is at the... More

you will have seen this building in movies and on television. This was part of an Art Deco tour that we took. Magnificent "throne" style building, captivating exterior with the 30 ft tall Ceres on top. As marvelous the outside is, the inside is spectacular. True art deco - perfectly preserved. Make sure you wander through the lobby and get... More

The Chicago Board of Trade Building was a stop on our Art Deco tour. The statue, Ceres - the goddess of grain, and the building are a big part of Chi-Town's history and a must see.

The Board of Trade Building is a beautiful example of art deco in Chicago. The public can walk through the gorgeous lobby of the 1930 building. It has beautiful vertical lines, lovely marble and striking art deco decorations. Then you can walk through the elevator lobby to the Helmut Jahn designed addition that was built in 1980. Downstairs in the... More

My wife and I were heading to the lake from Union Station when I pointed this building out to my wife. This was definitely photo worthy for her. Watching her move to different angles to fully take in this fine example of Chicago architecture reminded me of the many times I did the same thing. This is classic Chicago.

I love this building near and from afar. It's from Art Deco period and is a skyscraper in the heart of the financial district in downtown Chicago. The building and the street to the north, LaSalle St has been in several movies. Many leaders of the free world have visited. The futures and options trading pits were awesome back in... More
