Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Top of the world in Chicago is best scene at the Hancock building. Take the elevator up to the top floor and walk all around the enclosed glass floor to see the entirety of Chicago’s skyline. Views of Lake Michigan, tops of high rise buildings and rooftop pools, and if so inclined, try the TILT. I did not try the TILT because I’m afraid of heights but it’s available for those who are more daring!

This building offers a 360 degree view of Chicago and Lake Michigan. The view is from the 94th floor and is spectacular. The interactive signs and markings on the windows help you to identify what you are seeing.
We went during the week in March and there were no crowds to speak of, which made it very pleasant. It's a fun outing for adults and children.

We had family members visiting from Europe & we took them for a drink at 96 th floor. We got there an early Monday evening so it wasn’t crowded at all. We had table at the window. Views are incredible, city view, water, beach. Our guests had the chance to see the Windy City from perspective. We ordered raspberry mule, Cuba libre, bottle of wine. All drinks were delicious. We stayed over 3 hours. Crowd started picking up in later hours but that didn’t bother us. The bill was $180 for 5 people

Imagine! Living 57 years in Chicago and only getting to the top of the John Hancock this year. It was an absolutely gorgeous day, sunny in Chicago that gave the buildings an added beauty with their shadows along the lakefront. Had relatives in from Ireland that had never traveled on a plane, not to mention never been in a skyscraper. Beyond spectacular! Enjoyed a cocktail at the "Cloudbar" and solidified another notch in an epic adventure. Check out CityPASS for savings of some of the best Chicago attractions.

We went to the John Hancock center to get a great view of Chicago and it was gorgeous. 94 floors up with breathtaking panaramic views of the Magnificent Mile and Lake Michigan. We stayed up there for a couple of hrs as the lady told us we could stay as long as we wanted. It was pretty crowded during the day and were sold out but we found tickets online so if go try getting tickets online as you will have a better chance.

My group came here for an evening cocktail at the bar. We had a table right by the window and enjoyed a wonderful view of both the lake and Michigan Ave. while we socialized. This bar should be on everyone's list of places to visit.

It's been always a pleasure to visit John Hancock Center - its elliptical-shaped plaza outside, that is so sharply designed, wonderfully decorated and landscaped, that in summer you can easily spend several hours there. Some nice, mid-range restaurants on the plaza also have shaded seating areas outside, and the general ambiance there is highly relaxing and welcoming. Located next to the Magnificent Mile, the plaza is always very busy during warm seasons.
I've visited John Hancock Center many times before -- indoors the center looks very contemporary and spacious. Some exhibits of modern abstract art, that I planned to see this time, are displayed in the lobby on the ground floor. The staff and security I talked to, were all very courteous, hospitable, friendly and knowledgeable -- we briefly shared the views on the magic power of modern art!
The center has various attractions onsite -- one of them is the famous 360 Chicago Observatory , with TILT, that provides an exciting experience on its moving platform, and that is very popular with visitors.
Previously I've also been to the 96-floor Signature Lounge, that -- besides great lunch -- offers some spectacular, breathtaking views of the city, and on the 95th floor there's also a more formal, fine-dining Signature Room.
The building is equipped with dozens of high-speed lifts and elevators, which -- under supervision of a well-trained staff -- move up at a top speed of 1,800 ft/min. The spiral parking garage outdoors is nearby, and it also looks like a piece of modern architecture art; the garage is connected to the building of John Hancock Center by a bridge.
I have to add, that since 2018 this center doesn't have the name John Hancock Center anymore, it has been renamed into the vanguard abbreviated combo of numbers and letters: 875 NMA. Which is of course the location of the center: 875 North Michigan Avenue.
But for many, it is still John Hancock Center, and I look forward to coming back there soon!

Great views. Instead of paying 22 dollars to go to the observation deck, go straight to the Signature lounge on the 95th floor free of charge and purchase a drink, much cheaper.....fantastic cocktails for about 15 dollars. The views are spectacular. Visit during the day, then return when it’s dark to see Chicago lit up.

Well worth a visit, particularly if you go in the late afternoon, when you get both daylight and twilight. Oh, and don’t pay the $20+ to do the Skydeck. Instead, go up to the Signature Lounge where you can buy a $10 beer and get the same view.

The view from the 96th Floor is fantastic and no line. It will cost you each a drink @$10 each but to get to the 98th floor you have a long line and it costs $33 per adult and $23 per kid. So it was $30 for 3 and we had a beer each and a coke.

I visited John Hancock Center recently, but I didn't go to the Observation Deck (360 Chicago); their ticket office phone numbers are given online as 888- 875-8439 and direct 312-751-3681. Since they offer different rates -- for groups and individuals, for different age groups, special discounts, etc -- you might contact their office directly and ask them for the current rates. They also have online contact options. Enjoy your visit!
