Historic River tour

Good, as an experienced kayaker I would do the river myself. UK should request experience level of users

We were a large group of 8 adults and 7 kids, and had two guides, Jim and Jessica. Jim was a very good lead guide, both narrating some interesting history of the Chicago River and the history around it, and also making sure that we stayed safe while kayaking in a relatively busy waterway. Boating in a completely urban setting... More

Words cannot quite capture my feelings toward this trip. In fact, I will stop there because of the previous sentence. Highly recommend at night/sunset.

Safety orientated company that provided a fun outing on the water... very considerate of experience level. Qualified staff routed us through a safe trip on the Chicago river, navigating us through some heavy river traffic allowing us to enjoy the water and to see the city in a unique perspective.

Please ask the right question - How far an ideal guided tour will go? If others are poor in kayaking - no sense of direction is given- except to stick with the group. If you are a reasonable kayaker- GO SOLO- I was not able to- NOT SURE IF THEY STOP RENTING SOLO after 5 pm- but that's what I... More

My wife and I did the Historic Chicago tour with a guide named Cole this past Monday and had an awesome time. It was just enough paddling to see a decent amount of the skyline but not so much that we were tired or sore afterward. Cole was very personable and had a lot of good information and Chicago stories... More

We took the guided tour. It included some narration of the city's architecture. We rode in a double kayak. Being a much better than average paddler, it was annoying waiting for a few that struggled. Might have just rented a kayak if I had to do it again, but it was neat to hear some stories from the guide. Overall... More

Wanted to do this for a long time. Thank you Asher, this was one of the most fun things I had done in Chicago. My husband Jeff and I had a great time and great pictures :-) I will do this again soon, now I am a pro!

We did the sunset cruise for our wedding anniversary. It was so beautiful and slightly romantic. The views you get at night is out of this world! My husband and I shared a tandem kayak so we could experience the sights together. Our tour guide was awesome in explaining the 101 of kayaking as well as history of the city... More

Staying in Downtown / The Loop

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. A stunning skyline coupled with cultural attractions like the Art Institute of Chicago present a Downtown where work and play peacefully coexist.
