Come at Night

Best time to view is at sunset. So many people trying to catch the best photo so if you want to pick a great spot around the fountain, come around 4p.

We were visiting Chicago mid October. Sadly the fountain had already been emptied for the season. We kind a hoped that it would still be on - especially since the temperaures invited to to sit out side in t-shirt. Evenmore our hotel had full view to the park and the fountain - so we are a little disappointed. Anyway the... More

In the winter, this might be something to skip (as the fountain is turned off) - but visiting the fountain when it's warmer is quite nice. You can see a lot of the city on one side - and some lake on the other. There's usually a nice breeze blowing through here. However, there are often events going on that... More

Really beautiful fountain but unfortunately was drained during our visit. I would love to come back during a different time of year when it was operating.

The buckingham fountain is located in Grant park, it offers nice pictures with skycrapers scenery and as it is close to the lake shore, you can walk from there by the shore (30 minutes of walking) to the Navy Pier.

This fabulous land mark is reminiscent of the hoses used to put out the great fire here in Chicago. It is wonderful to see and the spray is very refreshing on a hot summers day!

Beautiful fountain. After staring at it for a few minutes you will be satisfied. Wait around because the middle pump is on a timer and will blast the water 40 or so feet in the air. Very cool to see!

Staying in Downtown / The Loop

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. A stunning skyline coupled with cultural attractions like the Art Institute of Chicago present a Downtown where work and play peacefully coexist.
