Wrigleyville is a Chicago neighborhood that has evolved into a major tourist attraction comparable to Navy Pier, Taylor Street, Wicker Park, Logan Square and Rush Street. In fact, it is not so much an attraction as it is a culture. Even when the Chicago Cubs aren't playing in adjacent Wrigley Field, Wrigleyville is alive, like Navy Pier, Great America and tailgaters at a Chicago Bears game. Bordered by Halsted Street on the east and Ashland Avenue on the west, Roscoe Street on the south and Byron Street on the north, Wrigleyville offers a wide selection of restaurants, sports-themed bars, theaters, hotels, bed & breakfasts, sports merchandise stores, boutiques and shops. It all surrounds historic Wrigley Field, located at the corner of Clark and Addison and home of the Cubs since 1914. The culture that has sprung up around this legendary stadium makes the Wrigleyville area a community and a tourist attraction unto itself. There are few parking lots in the area. But Wrigleyville is easily accessible by taxi or bus or by foot from the downtown area. There is so much to do that many visitors don't even attend the game, preferring to spend the day at a restaurant or bar. In fact, even when the Cubs aren't playing, Wrigleyville is host to hundreds of people who just want to experience the atmosphere and party at one of the restaurants or bars. Next to Navy Pier, there isn't a more popular tourist attraction in Chicago. Among the most popular venues are The Cubby Bear, Sluggers, Sports Corner, Murphy's Bleachers, Exedus, John Barleycorn's, The Irish Oak, Mullen's, Central, the Ivy on Clark and Chicago's Blarney Stone. Restaurants? For American food, try Salt and Pepper, Heavy on Seven, Kit Kat Lounge, Bar Celona or Bar Louie. For Italian food, try Tuscany on Clark. Asian food? Try BD's Mongolian Barbecue, Penny's Noodle Shop, Shabu-Ya or Mr. Thai. With the new renovation to Wrigley Field, the once-popular rooftop seats are going out of style. But a few still are available if you like to party and watch the game at the same time. Wrigleyville is one of Chicago's most spirited neighborhoods. You don't have to be a Cubs fan to make a pilgrimage to the shrine at Wrigley Field and experience the fun and excitement of Wrigleyville.

Fun neighborhood around Wrigley field with a lot of restaurants, taverns, and bars. It's a cute neighborhood to have dinner and drinks when you are going to see the Cubs play!

Wrigleyville is a fun and energetic place. But definitely a place for lots of drinking.
It is bar after bar. Cute bars! Definitely a place for young people - and we aren't that young any more! That being said, we had a great time!

As part of our bike rental, we left the pathway along the water and rode to Wrigley Field. Also rode around this neighborhood. It was an enjoyable ride, and if you’re a Cubs fan it’s part of the charm in the stadium area

I have been coming around Wrigleyville all my life. I enjoy the little haunts (Murphy's Bleachers, Cubby Bear, etc.) around the ballfield. Make no mistake Wrigley Field is the main draw and what makes the community thrive. From the 80's to 2010 the neighborhood was in need of a makeover and since 2010 it has done exactly that. It has become a much safer and friendlier area to take the family. I have taken my family to see the Cubs play and also on the off days as well. Best advice if you are a Cubs Fan or simply a baseball fan. Take the Wrigley Field tour when the Cubs are away. You will get a deep appreciation of the "friendly confines" and get to see areas of the ballpark that you would never see (dugouts, pressbox, on-field, etc.) during the game. It is well worth it and it is all for Cubs Charities. My family made a day of touring the ballpark, walking around the community, and eating at the Cubby Bear. It was great. The Cubs Store was great to visit and Gallagher Park was super to throw a ball back and forth with your child. If you are a Cubs fan and you have not seen the 2016 World Series Trophy you must get down to the Cubs story. It was on display and you could take a picture with it. The attendant was very helpful and was gracious to take a picture of the family with the trophy. My son and I have tried to make it a habit to play catch at major ball stadiums (Wrigley Field, Busch Stadium, Miller Park, Great American Ball Park, etc.) and it is always fun. Believe me they will remember that! My wife and I have stayed at Bed and Breakfasts at Wrigleyville and walked to the ballfield to see a game and it was phenomenal. If you love your baseball history and love baseball walk around Wrigleyville, take in a Cubs game, have a beer at one of the watering holes and enjoy the city at its finest!

Until the Chicago Cubs won the World Series, Navy Pier was the No. 1 tourist attraction in Chicago. Since then, however, it has been supplanted by Wrigleyville, the neighborhood of bars and restaurants surrounding Wrigley Field. Even on days when the Cubs aren't playing, the area around the iconic park is filled with adoring fans and tourists and curiosity-seekers who want to take pictures, have a beer and burger at a local saloon and generally soak up the atmosphere. Wrigley Field was opened in 1916 and it was with the building of this monument to baseball that the neighborhood first became defined within the larger Lakeview area. The culture that has sprung up around the legendary stadium makes Wrigleyville a community unto itself. It is bordered by Halsted Street on the east and Ashland Avenue on the west, Roscoe Street on the south and Byron Street on the north. It is very well developed in terms of restaurants and bars and sports-themed merchandise stores. It is easily accessible (take the Clark Street bus from downtown) but parking is virtually impossible, especially on game days. Most popular bars include Murphy's Bleachers, Sluggers, Nisel Lounge, Dark Horse Tap, Bernie's Tap and Irish Oak. Music also is a big draw to the neighborhood. The Wild Hare features reggae music seven days a week. The Cubby Bear and Metro also are popular live entertainment venues. But the main attraction, of course, is Wrigley Field itself. And, in the wake of the Cubs' historic World Series triumph, a pilgrimage to the shrine at Clark and Addison is mandatory.

Love this area right by Wrigley stadium. Very young, vibrant area. Apartments are expensive in this area and can be small but a fun place to visit when in Chicago

What a fun area to visit, especially when there is a Cubs game going on. The place is hopping with vendors and people. There are tons of bars to visit if you want to watch the game and just take in the atmosphere.

Wrigleyville is the in Lakeside, but is the neighborhood directly surrounding Wrigley Field. The area around Wrigley Field is very nice and has been recently renovated. They are currently in the process of building several hotels just across the street from the ballpark! Get about 2-3 blocks from the field, though and it gets a little shady. The residential area is nice, but south of the ballpark is a little sketchy.

Stopped here for a quick visit while passing through the Chicago area on a Sunday.
After reading other reviews on the limited parking in the area, and that most is permit only resident parking (streets all have signs to notify you), I decided to look for metered street parking nearby. Found 2 hr. street parking on N. Halsted st. near intersection of W. Addison st.. Walked down Addison to Wrigley Field. Walked around the stadium to view and take pictures. Ate at Yak-Zies on N. Clark st. Excellent food. Visited two sports stores, Sports World Chicago and Wrigleyville Sports. Nice little sight seeing stop on our way home, especially since Wrigley Field is such an historic ballpark. Nothing was overly crowded on this Sunday in March, so that made it nice for a quick stop .

How early should I arrive before a game at wrigleyville bars for cubs cardinals game and be able to grab a table or seat at the bars?
Written 10 April 2019
The Cubs/Cardinals rivalry is always one of the best games/series of the year. Gates usually open two hours before gametime at Wrigley Field and lines form usually about an hour before that. Depending on the bar it is probably a good idea to get there at least two to three hours before the game to get a good table or seat at the bar. Murphy's Bleachers, The Cubby Bear, SportsCorner, etc. will be popular since they are only across the street from the ballpark. Call ahead and ask when the crowd usually starts to gather. The management may give you a good idea when to come to get the best seat and if they accept reservations. I have found out it is usually first come/served but you never know. The management, bartenders, and waitresses are usually very knowledgeable and know the flow of traffic. Good Luck!
