We stopped at the temple en route from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya, and we’re glad we did because of the gorgeous views of the surrounding hills and valleys.

Unfortunately, we arrived during a lunchtime closure between 1230 and 1530, so couldn’t enter the temple.

There is an on-site restaurant, nice shop, and ample parking.

A nice place to stretch your legs while passing through.

Be prepared, there are strict rules about attire, more stringent than any other temp Lowe ever visited in Sri Lanka.

This is a place of historical importance for hindus. Ramboda hills was the camp of the army of Lord Ram. This is also believed to be the place which was visited by Hanumanji before going to Ashok vatika. There is an annpurna restaurant nearby which serbes pure vegetarian food. There is also a book and souvenir shop in the premises. The statue of Lord Hanuman is 18 feet tall. A must visit temple if you are visiting Nuwara Eliya.

Old temple of Sri Lanka. Very well kept. Neat clean place. Religious value for Hindus. Was surprised to see a large number of foreigners. As you get out of temple, look in front at the skyline and you find the shape of mountain looks as if Hanumaan is lying there. My guide showed me this. :-). Worth a visit

If you are not appropriately dresed, you will not be allowed to enter the temple. The idol is pretty huge and very captivating. The environment in and around the temple is also very serene and offers a great view of the valley. If you are visiting Ramboda falls, you can plan a visit to this temple.

We were pleasantly surprised to know that the Chinmaya mission oversees the supervision of the Baktha Hanuman Temple at Ramboda.
First things first. Buy the Ramayana trail book at the temple...it is not available so easily elsewhere certainly impossible for a tourist to scout around. That book opens up alternate travel arrangements for all devout Hindus to make in Sri Lanka as it explains with simplicity and pictures, the various places in the island country where references to Lord Rama has been made.
The temple itself overlooks a valley and we could see an silhouette of sleeping Lord Hanuman with hands folded in reverence to the Lord. a divine experience.
Nearby the temple is the equally beautiful Nuwara eliya hill station...another must-stay place when in the beautiful country.

Shri Bhakta Hanuman Temple built by Chinmaya Mission of Sri Lanka. Located in Wavendon Hills, Rambodha on Kandy-Nuwaraeliya Road located approximately 30 odd kilometers North of Nuwara Eliya on A-5 highwayThe temple itself is situated about 2 KMs from the main road on a hill at a commanding location .Legend has it that Shri Hanuman had landed at this place when he had come in search of Sita. A good tar road connects the temple and the main road . Three wheeler rikshaws are normally available to take you from main road to the temple & back..
The temple is not too big nor very ornately decorated but Chinamaya Mission has done a Wonderful job of maintaining the temple , the surrounding areas which are spotlessly clean. The gardens maintained by the mission are very beautiful. During our visit Roses were in full bloom and looked very pleasing to the eyes .
The idol of Shri Hanuman is of black granite and it is carved beautifully and stands tall at 16 feet.We were not permitted to photograph the idol ( but I have seen them on the net .) so instead took photos of the sign board by the main road.
From the location of the temple one can see the Kotamale Reservoir and the entire Kotamale Valley . The view is simply breath taking and very very beautiful . Even if you are not a religious person visit to this place is strongly recommended just for the scenic beauty and the awesome view one gets from this place.
