We had an incredible trip from Cartagena to Panama. Manu, Lindsay, Anselm and Ori made shure we felt safe aboard, had delicious food!, and most of all had soo much fun. The sea with dolphins and sharks as well as the islands with perfect white sand and delicious coconuts were just breathtakingly beautiful. Would definitely recommend going on this trip!

We had originally booked this tour on another sailboat, The Ave Maria, but they had an equipment failure and cancelled. However, the original crew got us onto Wildcard which offered the same excursion.
First and foremost I want to compliment the crew, they were outstanding. Very accommodating when requests were made.
My girlfriend and I are a bit older (70’s) than the backpacking adventurers, there were 20 passengers plus four crew. The other 18 passengers were all younger than 33. My friend and I were the only USA citizens on board. The “kids” were from all over but the common language spoken was English. Everyone was fluent which was impressive. They all treated us with respect and deference when lining up or looking for a place to sit on deck.
The first day we met the crew we were told the Wildcard is known as a party boat and it was fun. My friend and I retired early each night as the rest partied on but they never disturbed us while we slept. Accommodations were very much like a hostel with beds stacked or side by side. We were fortunate to have had our own cabin like area, close to the toilet, which was very good for me. Food was prepared by an excellent cook who only had a single burner stove but somehow she created great meals out of the limited galley. They could accommodate Vegetarians, Vegans, Pescatarians and Carnivores. Fresh lobster was delivered to the boat as well as fresh fish and fruit, food was great.
The first disappointment I will list, we never sailed, just motored everywhere. I have spent considerable time blue water sailing having lived aboard my 34’ sailboat for 2++ years. So motoring was not what we wanted. We did have some rough weather which accounted for not raising the sails but there were stretches of sea where it was possible. Since we experienced lots of rain all of the deck cushions remained wet and uncomfortable the whole time. We visited several islands one of which was inhabited and we spent half a day there, that was great. Our last day of island hopping was spent on a small deserted island. However, a squall passed thru with winds blowing over 50 mph and blinding rain. It lasted for 30 minutes, most of the passengers were on the island and we were exposed to the elements. We all survived and now have a great tale to tell.
As previously stated, the crew, food and accommodations were excellent. There were two toilets/heads, one forward and one aft. I say toilet because there were no freshwater showers. There was a large barrel of fresh water on deck, which we were allowed to rinse the salt off after a day of swimming but we couldn’t use too much. Only two toilets but it was never a problem getting into one. Another observation of mine, the boat has many deferred maintenance and some safety issues. The safety issues have to do with hand holds in and near the toilets and unprotected sharp corners in perfect spots to bang your head on. During rough weather it would have been nice to have a grab bar outside of the toilet and one inside. Since there wasn’t one outside you held onto the sink which was coming off the wall/bulkhead. Not sure how long its been that way but it added to the maintenance issues. Another one which truly needs to be addressed is the safety netting around the deck. It is old and not nearly as tight as it should be. One could easily be tossed against it and go overboard. There were several more I won’t list here but as you walk around they are apparent. Most of the issues I blame on the owner, it takes money to keep a boat of this size in good condition and for the sake of the passenger’s safety the boat needs attention.
I can recommend the trip to those considering such an adventure, just be aware of the typical age of the backpackers if you are middle aged or a bit older it may be an issue, we were fortunate to have a good mix of passengers.

The boat is very small compared to the number of people.

But: The wildcard team is just amazing and we enjoyed our trip very much. The food was great and we felt comfortable at all times.

I was on the boat to san blas from Colombia to Panama on the wild card with Greg, Manu, ori and lindsy. We had a great time. It was the most beautiful trip I have ever done! It was paradise. Manu was the cook and the food was the best!!! I am vegetarian but it was so good. And lindsy was very nice and helpfull and spoke very good english and dutch (for the dutchies). She was so happy all the timeI highly recommend the wild card with Manu and lindsy. They were best! The captain Greg was nice but it was remarkable that Manu had to take over when he had to much rum. But the trip was amazing I recommend it!

Sailing through the San Blas islands, from Panama to Colombia with Wildcard Sailing is the best way to go! I sailed with my motorcycle, and the crew knew exactly what to do! The food is amazing and you will never go hungry! The boat is spotless and Capt James, Jacques, Sophie and Sweetlips make sure you have an incredible experience both on and off the ship!

Hands down the best experience of my travels so far. Sophie made sure we ate like kings. James, Sweet lips and Juks made our time on the trip easy and heaps of fun. The islands were stunning and provided some mad insta content for everyone, but the best bits happened on the boat when we chilled on the deck and had a couple of beers. Would recommend 11/10. Worth every cent!

Best sailing trip I have ever done. The San Blas Islands are paradise and the vibe on the boat made the experience even more incredible. Captain James is such a chill guy and I’m still amazed how Sofie cooked such delicious meals in that tiny kitchen. Probably the coolest thing I did on my trip to Colombia.

Our sail on the Sovereign Grace from Panama to Colombia was amazing! We have nothing bad to say about the sail or the crew. The food was amazing- you will never ever go hungry on this boat. Sophie keeps your tummy’s full with her wide range of different meals (all bloody delicious). Wilson the captain is super laid back and makes sure everyone is having a good time always! Such an easy week spent with great people, snorkelling amazing reefs, island hopping around beautiful secluded islands and chilling out on the boat. We met some really cool people and were very well looked after. The last day is spent sailing non stop, which was made even better with all the movies they had on the tv. Thanks so much Willy, Soph, Kyran and Ori! We would do it 97645783 times again if we could 😁😁 11/10 for you guys 👏

Thank you Wilson and thank you Sophie for making the boat trip from Colombia to Panama an amazing one! Too bad there was not a lot of wind, but everything was well organized.
If you want to know how "second breakfast" tastes on a boat (or lunch and dinner), book this boat, you'll not regret it! Best food I had this month! Sophie, you're the best!
