Lovely setting.

A lovely setting, pleasant place to take a stroll on the beach on a sunny day. Would enjoy having a chance to visit inside the adjoining mansion.

Check their website if you want to actually visit the lighthouse. They are open Sat and Sun afternoons 2-4P but there is a phone number to call to verify if you are making a special trip. Otherwise there is a great beach here with special accommodations for kids.

Never have figured out why this is spelled Grosse but there is also a Gross Point Road (no e). Anyhow, this lighthouse is the symbol of Evanston and is beautiful along the lake and Sheridan Road next to Northwestern University. Most everything in this area and in most of Evanston is as beautiful as a post card.

We came to see the lighthouse, and realized that the main attraction here is the beach and children's playground. The lighthouse wasn't open midday Friday when we were there. Come for a picnic or play with your family rather than to visit a lighthouse. Be aware that there is a charge to visit the beach.

Very hard to find a time when this is open to the public. Believe you have to call ahead and confirm a time. Very little to see from the outside,

We decided to make a day trip of some of our local sites. We checked out the Lighthouse in Evanston. There are a few tours on Sunday afternoon and we were there for the beginning tour. The docents allowed sixteen people in-half went up in the lighthouse, and half watched the video of the history of this particular lighthouse. After... More

Arrived here prior to hotel check in time and enjoyed a couple of hours at the nearby beach. A nice, scenic spot to relax, maybe enjoy a picnic. There was a charge to go in the lighthouse. We opted not to, and just walked around the grounds. there is a charge to go to the beach-- $8 per person. Changing... More

I had some time to kill while others in our group visited Northwestern University, so we decided to see the Grosse Point Lighthouse, which is just north of campus. The small parking lot was full, so we parked on one of the side streets across from the attraction. There is a very pretty park surrounding the lighthouse and we took... More

We checked this out on a whim when driving through Evanston. What a cool lighthouse! The views are fantastic. It gets pretty hot up at the top because the lighthouse is enclosed and we visited in August, but it was so neat.

Need to call to check if the lighthouse will be open. Even it is not open, there is a small park by the lighthouse and a dune and beach right in front of it.
