You'll never forget your first sight of Blickling. Sitting in a magnificent garden and park is a breath-taking mansion, flanked by ancient yew hedges. Past owners have used the estate as a refuge while performing on the world's political stage. Philip Kerr, the last private owner, helped shaped the National Trust's history, using his influence to find a way of saving great country houses for future generations to enjoy. Until his death in 1940 he used the house for entertaining his prominent guests; and photographs, sounds and objects help to tell his story. Outside, the formal garden is the result of three centuries of inspired planting, and the gently undulating historic parkland is great for exploring.

A true gem! Steeped in history with one of the best libraries I have seen in any national trust house. Lots to see and do for all ages inside and out. To see both house and the grounds I would recommend allowing at least half a day.

Visited Blickling Estate last Friday. A truly magical experience. The light display in the garden was lovely. The house was decorated with christmas trees, and very friendly staff was on hand to inform and entertain. Well done to everyone involved in the organisation of this wonderful event.

I have visited Blickling at Christmas in previous Years. They endeavour to have a different Theme each Year, which adds to the experience. This Year the Gardens were illuminated, which was a great spectacle. The Staff & Volunteers were very welcoming and congratulations to them for a Great Team Effort. Blickling is well worth a visit at any time of... More

We enjoyed our evening at Blickling the Christmas lights were really good and gave a lovely entrance to the house. The settings in the rooms of Blickling were really good and gave an authentic feel to the building. It would have been good to have had a tour guide with us for the visit. The lighting of the House was... More

We all went as a family - my 80 yr old parents my husband and I and my daughter. My Dad has the starting of Vascular dementia and this Christmas is very important this year - I was very disappointed - the area of the farmyard cafe and garden shop - was supposed to have a fire pit which was... Beautiful estate. Lakeside walk is a great one and all of the bronze leaves on the forest floor looked stunning. The house all done up for Christmas was great and the staff all made a massive effort. Highlight of the Christmas decorations was the old Turkey oak all lit up in purple in the night. Stunning.

Wonderful thirties theme weekend. Staff so knowledgeable and friendly. Carriage ride great for £4. Wonderfully lit garden, so go when it is dark for the Christmas event.

There's no denying this is a beautiful house - it really is quite something. Alas, the splendour ends on the outside, the inside is a real disappointment. The place has nothing by comparison to the other stunning country halls we have in Norfolk, it's pretty bare. For the money the National Trust charge for entry, I was certainly expecting more.... We’re sorry you found the inside of Blickling Hall disappointing. The point of a National Trust house is to try to give our visitors a sense of what it looked like when the owners were living there, in this case Lord Lothian and his guests in the 1930s. It is not meant to be a museum to display objects brought... More

Unfortunately I arrived in November so the Hall was closed for winter but walking around the outside, I will definitely return to view inside. They were putting out the Christmas trees and getting their festive decorations ready, so the entrance looked beautiful with twinkling lights on the trees. There is an amazing church next to the mansion which is also... More
