You'll never forget your first sight of Blickling. Sitting in a magnificent garden and park is a breath-taking mansion, flanked by ancient yew hedges. Past owners have used the estate as a refuge while performing on the world's political stage. Philip Kerr, the last private owner, helped shaped the National Trust's history, using his influence to find a way of saving great country houses for future generations to enjoy. Until his death in 1940 he used the house for entertaining his prominent guests; and photographs, sounds and objects help to tell his story. Outside, the formal garden is the result of three centuries of inspired planting, and the gently undulating historic parkland is great for exploring.

Pleased to say that the dog mess mentioned in a previous review was being cleared away by the estate rangers yesterday when we passed through the park. What a horrible job for them to do. I hope that the dog walkers who left the bags are ashamed of themselves for spoiling this lovely parkland. Well done estate rangers.

The first view of this magnificent edifice is a total joy. There is some walking to do and stairs so not for the faint-hearted. It is definitely worth it, however as there is something to see in every room of the house and the connection with Anne Bullen [ Boleyn], 2nd wife of Henry 8th fascinating. the gardens are extensive... We had a wonderful walk around the lake at Blickling. It is a beautiful place and the paths, though a bit muddy, were accessible. Sadly at the gate leading into the field next to the gate ten different bags of dog mess had been left randomly dropped acrossthe path. This is disgusting and will be very unpleasant for the poor... It's hard to select just one month that we visited as we come here a fair amount to make the most of our national trust membership and being able to access the house and gardens for free when we come. We also live fairly locally. The house is grand inside and very informative. The gardens are well looked after and... More

Interesting house visit with excellent, knowledgeable and friendly guides. Would have walked round the lake if weather had been warmer. Worth visiting kitchen garden restoration project.

Stayed at the Tower - what a treat, I felt like a kid in a toy shop when I arrived...running from room to room to see the unfolding delights! And to cap it all trh Blickling Estate had decorated the Hall and grounds creating a magical spectacle! Tasty venison burgers, mulled wine and an open fire in the stable yard,... More

We visited Blickling on a bleack December afternoon and were delighted with our choice from the moment we passed the gates. The drive up to the house was decorated with small Christmas trees with lights and the house's interior was lavishly decorated. There was hardly a surface without any Christmas decorations. The rooms are very tastefully presented and there is... More
