My wife and I went for a bike ride at Starved Rock. What we found out, there is no bike trail there. We ended up going to I&M Canal bike trail. It was a good ride, but during the summer the plants on either side...More

Very interesting historical tour along the Illinois and Michigan Canal. Flat bottomed boat is pulled by a mule. Sound system wasn't working so had to strain to hear very interesting talk. Well worth the trip. Just off Route 80. Nice afternoon. Good for kids.

As part of our bike trip crossing Illinois from the Indiana border to the Mississippi River, we rode our bikes on the I&M trail from Joliet to LaSalle. It was great....picturesque, historic, and mostly well maintained. There are many access points along the way with...More

There is an attraction where mules pull a boat down the canal. It's a really easy ride and they narrate the history of the canal. Nice and laid back trip'.

The western end of the trail is at LaSalle, and it's interesting because of the canal boat rides that are available here. You can ride a bike east only a little beyond Utica before running into a washout, and the trail up to that point...More

Still one of my all time favorite traditions to do with the kids. The organizers and volunteers who put it all together do an excellent job. The canal is a great place to visit, walk, bike or fish all year long.

We rode the trail from Utica to Lock 14 near Peru. There was a nice large parking lot to begin at in Utica. The grain bins of the local company across the street were just the beginning of the simple pleasures we would find along...More
