This is one of two surviving court houses that Abe Lincoln practiced in before he became president, it is well worth a visit to see all the historic items on display

See where Melissa Goings escaped from courthouse to Kentucky after Lincoln kindly advised where to find "better water". Lower floor museum explores & describes other interesting law cases along with info on court system. The best is the courtroom upstairs where I was allowed to look closely at one of his desks with a front cut-out. First time I recognized... More

Many Lincoln artifacts and items of that era. The upstairs of the courthouse completely restored and provides an authentic atmosphere of when Lincoln practiced law.

Great place to relive Lincoln and his trip to the court house. They are open Friday nights during summer next to band concerts at the gazebo. Fun event for families!

I have been going there since I was a little girl. It isn't open enough now for others to experience it. But it should be.

For several years, my wife and I drove through Metamora on our way to Peoria to cover or observe the boys state high school basketball tournament finals. As a long-time sportswriter who covered Illinois high school sports for more than 40 years, I am familiar with Metamora's considerable achievements as a high school football power. And as an historian, mostly... More

Jean Myer, the curator, is an excellent host when one visits the Courthouse. He knows his history and has many stories about the area and about Lincoln. It is a great museum for local and out of the area visitors.

The courthouse depicts the mid 19th century era with the courtroom set up like it was on the second floor. There are a lot of artifacts, old clothing, and many memories of Metamora during that span of time. Metamora also has a very nice park that has a stature of Lincoln when he freed the woman caught and tried in... More

Came here on our way back from East Peoria. Always pass by here but never stopped here until now. Was in Springfield and heard that this particular courthouse was where Lincoln practiced law before his presidency. The first floor had many artifacts from around Woodford County ranging from old spinning wheels to civil war items and old pianos and phones.... More

This was a quick stop for us, but we wanted to visit a small town in Illinois and Metamora was a great fit. We enjoyed walking around the nice park, with the statues of Lincoln, and seeing it all lit up at night.
