About
Established in 1952 and entirely replanted 20 years ago to produce world-class sparkling wines, we are not only the first commercial vineyard in the UK but also one of England's most awarded vineyards. A true piece of British heritage. We believe that our piece of English soil has something so special to give that that we can exceed the quality of the world’s finest sparkling wines. We grow the grapes in the Hampshire village of Hambledon, where chalk soil and cool climate are ideal for making world-class wines. We hold ourselves to the highest standards, led by our team of experts and passionate people. The vineyard was recently acquired by Berry Bros & Rudd, the UK’s oldest fine wine and spirits merchant in its 325th year, and Symington Family Estates, the world’s leading producer of premium port (both Royal Warrant holders) - two of the most highly-respected British-owned family businesses - heralding a bright future for England's most storied vineyard.

Wonderful way to Celebrate your 60th
I recently celebrated my 60th Birthday with an evening at Hambledon Vineyard. We had the marquee in the field above the vineyard, and had the most enjoyable and memorable experience. Katherine, Polly and Nick were the perfect hosts and chef, and made it all so special for us all. The location was perfect (overlooking the vineyard and with the decorations around), and the food was just unbelievable with canapes and a full 3-course meal. The wine flowed freely, and we truly appreciated the effort everyone made to ensure we had a time to remember. Thank you Katherine for helping us organise the event, for answering our (many) questions. We have been coming to Hambledon Vineyard for many years now and always love the time there. This was a special occasion and you definitely made it one we will remember for a very long time.

    Vineyards in the sun
This was a really lovely and informative morning. Clive ,our guide, gave a wonderful insight into the history making and detail of English sparking wines. Who knew it was such a long and complex process!! We had spectacularly good weather and the tour finished with a tasting of two of the wines with a cheese board. We will be back when the visitor centre and restaurant is open. Highly recommend
Hi Samantha, We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your visit and really want to thank you for your kind words - will make sure to pass your kind words along to Clive who we are sure will very much appreciate it. We also really look forward to welcoming you back to our visitor centre when it is completed! Kind regards, Marc

Great tour and afternoon tea 🥂
So I must say, we had the most wonderful experience at Hambledon. Our tour guide Clive was so knowledgeable and you can tell he really cared about the vineyard and the industry. The tour (group) was as described - a walk through all the areas to see how sparkling wine is made and the sun was shining so we throughly enjoyed the experience. After the tour we had afternoon tea as it was a special occasion along with the wine tasting. Heather who served us the afternoon tea was so lovely and made us feel special (as did Clive!). I would highly recommend celebrating at the Hambledon vineyard. They will be opening a visitor centre and restaurant soon so we’re looking forward to coming back. Massive thank you to Clive for being the best tour guide and Heather for her personal touches.
Hi there, Thank you for getting in touch. We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit - will make sure to pass your kind words along to Clive. We also look forward to welcoming you back to our visitor centre when it is completed! Kind regards, Marc

    Amazing cheese and wine!
What an amazing night! Clive was a fantastic host, so informative and knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions that we came up with. The wine choices complemented the cheeses perfectly and we would highly recommend the experience. Great value for money and got to try some amazing wines!

    Lovely!
Lovely sparkling wine tasting tour. We can’t remember the name of the Scottish tour guide but he was great, very knowledgable and attentive to everyone’s needs and requests. The wine was wonderful, two good sized glasses of wine. People had either the afternoon tea, the cheese board or just the wine all at the same time as the tasting. One group who hadn’t booked food requested some food and they prepped a cheese boiled within a few minutes. The location is stunning and we loved the history about the village and its links to the start of cricket. Due to the tour guides information we followed our wine tasting by visiting the cricket pitch and the Bat and Ball pub for a relaxed lunch after the tasting session. There is building work going on next to the car park and we can’t wait to visit when it is done. The work does not hamper the experience at all as it is separate and away from the tasting room, vineyard and the factory tour. I have been on many wine tasting sessions before in France and Australia and this was on a par- which I think is very exciting for the future of English wine!

Great local vineyard, can't wait until their new facilities to open
With such awful weather we've had of late, it was with a certain amount of reservation we booked our afternoon tea that had been bought as Christmas gift. Fortunately the weather gods were kind to us, and we enjoyed a really informative, relaxing and tasty sparkling afternoon tea. Rab was an excellent and knowledgeable host, injecting a bit of Scottish humour. Really can't wait for their new facilities to open early next year - you've definitely got a repeat guest, especially with it being on our door step.
Hello there, It's wonderful to know that your visit was a pleasant one. We're truly grateful for your encouraging words. Rest assured, we'll share your lovely feedback with Rab, who will undoubtedly be heartened to hear it. We eagerly anticipate your next visit to our soon-to-be-completed visitor centre! Warm wishes, Marc

Did the vineyard and wine tasting tour today and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The tour was very informative and interesting. The wine tasting made the visit and in my opinion good value for your money. Would definitely recommend.
Hello Janet, Glad to hear you enjoyed your visit. We'll pass on your compliments onto the team. Can't wait to have youback at the vineyard for our upcoming visitor centre! Best, Marc

A wonderful way to spend an afternoon!
Fantastic tour, Simon, our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable & very engaging with the group. The tasting with the addition of the cheeseboard was delicious & great that Gluten Free/Coeliac are catered for. The wine was so good that our party stayed on to drink a full bottle of the rosé. We will definitely be back especially once the restaurant is open. Thank you to all of the staff for a fabulous afternoon.
Hello Maria, Thank you for taking the time to share your wonderful experience! We're thrilled to hear that Simon's tour lived up to expectations and that you enjoyed the tasting. We're also delighted you enjoyed the rosé enough to linger. Do visit again soon, especially once our restaurant opens. It promises to be a treat! Thanks again for your kind words. Here's to many more fabulous afternoons! Warm regards, Marc

A Scotsman who knows his cricket!
Great tour taken by Rab (the Scotsman!) . He told us about the cricketing history of Hambledon and how the third stump came about (go on the tour to find out!) We also learnt about the history of the vineyard, the types of grapes that they are growing and their ambitions for the future. The tour of the winery and cellars was fascinating. You really do get up close and are able to see where all the different processes take place. Rab was knowledgeable, friendly and funny and the tour was perfectly pitched. Thanks Rab! I had a great time and certainly learnt a few things!
Hello Paul, Thank you for your delightful feedback! We're pleased to hear that Rab's tour provided insight not only into the cricketing history of Hambledon but also the intricacies of our vineyard. It's great to know that our visitors get an immersive experience, understanding our processes and ambitions. Your kind words about Rab's expertise, friendliness, and humor have been passed on to him. We're thrilled you had an educational and enjoyable time with us. Hope to see you again soon for more insights and laughter! Best regards, Marc

We had dinner tonight in the cellar restaurant. We chose the 6 course tasting menu which was a complete delight. Fresh ingredients with some vibrant colours and flavours served with a smile and with love.
The food was immaculate in every way and Sarah one of the chefs was happy to explain how the dishes had been made.
We were treated like royalty and would highly recommend this gemstone of a restaurant to anyone

What a gem! Sadly it was a dull, cloudy and cold day, but can imagine on a sunny day this place sings. The setting is incredible. When the new visitor centre is open it will be a stunning venue. The vineyard tour was extensive and very informative. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and could answer all questions thrown at him. He had a good sense of humour too. It took us around one hour 20 mins to complete the tour, then we enjoyed two decent glasses of their sparkling wine (white and rose) which was well complemented by the cheese board we selected (additional cost). All in all a very entertaining couple of hours.

Lovely evening. Car park a little walk to venue door. Suggest if walking is a struggle get dropped off at the door and driver go back to car park.
We dined at the Cellar Door. I told service staff I could not eat anything spicy. Chef cooked my courses separately removing any spice, still amazingly tasty.
We chose 3 course menus at £50ph. Included a glass of wine. Each course was very tasty and staff explained what it contained. House rosè sparklingly was our choice of drink.
Such a lovely venue which is having further improvements done. Can’t wait to visit again when works are completed.
Thank you to service staff and chef for a great evening.

This tour was a gift from friends. 4 of us went along for a vineyard tour and tasting.

It was great. Rabbit was our guide, and he guided us well. We visited the large vineyards, herd about all the stuff involved in growing the grapes, and gained insights into the careful processes involved in creating the wines. This is a hand made high quality product!

The tasting was splendid. Rabbit encouraged our exploration of the 4 wines, and provided us with lots of interesting stuff.

Well worth a visit, we would like to return to see the vines in full bloom!

Really interesting and educational tour. Certainly the best wine tour I've done.

The setting is amazing, A wonderful house in the hills surrounded by vast acres of vines, our guide took us out to the vines and explained how the vines are chosen, how they are managed and the sheer amount of work and time that goes into the grapes. Its a science but he made it sound simple and very interesting.

The second part took us into the winery where it all gets produced, again a really interesting and essential part if you want to understand how the grapes get into a wine bottle.

Then we went to the top deck of a double decker bus all kitted out for you to taste some of the wines. We also went for the cheeseboard which was excellent to go with the wines. Popped down to the shop at the end to make a purchase bofore heading home.

Lovely staff, lovely wine, lovely place

We booked a wine tour and tasting experience and walked away feeling like VIPs. An excellent experience with our very knowledgeable guide, Clive, who was attentive, humorous and an all round pleasure to share the experience with. The tour was interesting and steeped in history about our local area. We finished the tour in the perfect way with bubbles and a cheese board. The cheese board was adapted for a coeliac member of the party, making the experience safe for a gluten free diet. I felt that the staff were knowledgeable and reassuring, which is so important when dining with a food allergy. Couldn’t have asked for a better afternoon. Thank you!
