Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were gifted vouchers for a Gin Tasting. Raphael was our host and was very informative and entertaining. He guided us through our gins and we came away with some purchases and a whole new perspective. Would definitely recommended and the whisky tasting is next on the agenda.

Well worth a visit. Small but perfectly formed with knowledgable friendly staff. Tasters available. Much much better than the shop in Ayr. Large stock. Clean toilets. Private tasters and tours available. Do not miss!

This is a lovely weekend shop with friendly and knowledgeable staff who really know their stuff.
Great place to stop and buy whiskey - some of it is distilled by themselves.
We got a few bottles here - oh and they do cigars too !!!
Definitely recommend a stop here.

Four of us came for the gin tasting experience and it was just fantastic.
Emma was extremely knowledgeable and welcoming.
She took her time explaining the gins and history and then left us with plenty of time to enjoy them for ourselves.
A lovely place and a great day out.

I found this place after looking through a booklet in the lodge where we are staying. The whisky on display is vast and we were spoilt for choice. Having seen some negative comments I did wonder whether we were to be watched like hawks but we werent. Nothing was forced and if we needed help we were able to get it easily. Will certainly be back and next time Im getting the bus so I can enjoy a tipple 😇

We both thought the shop to be interesting with many malts, and great information and history. However the service from the 2 ladies was an absolute disgrace. We were holidaying and had just been to the beach we were in shorts t shirts and sandals on walking in we were looked up on down by one lady we proceeded to walk round when we went to alcove where the more expensive whiskys were one lady stood opposite and watched us like common thieves after a couple of minutes she asked her assistant to "stand here a few minutes" while she ventured off to another room... terribly snobbish attitudes. The gentleman in the shop was however a very pleasant man and bade us goodbye as we left... otherwise a very interesting beautiful place totally ruined by horrible attitudes towards us

Hi Steve,
Thank you for taking the time to provide a review and we are pleased you found our attraction to be interesting and beautiful. We are however very sorry you found the service you received from us to be disappointing. We aim to provide a warm, inviting and friendly welcome to everyone who visits us and make their visit as fun and interesting as possible. We try to ascertain whether our visitors wish us to talk with them and give them an informal 'tour' or if they would prefer to enjoy looking around on their own. If visitors prefer to look on their own, we then remain nearby should they wish to approach us for assistance or ask questions. It seems we have mis-judged our approach for you and we are sorry you found this made you feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. We hope you will visit us again so you can have a much better experience with us.

Scotland offers Lovers of 'The Amber Nectar',many places to sample its delights. None better than AD Rattrays Whisky shop in South Ayrshire. You will find old malts and fine blends to tickle the taste buds of any palate, all presented by friendly and knowledgable staff in a splendid location near Turnberry. Take an hour or two out and treat yourself. You will be glad you did.
