As you approach Kerridge Village from Bollington you can't miss what looks like the top of a giant ice-cream cone on the top of the hill. It was not far from our hotel but we were told it was a 2 hour, five mile walk...More
If you enjoy wonderful views without walking too far, this is the place for you. From White Nancy, you can see for miles in most directions. I could see Croker Hill mast, Joddrell Bank telescope, Alderley Edge, the Cheshire plain with Manchester Airport, Manchester, Nab...More
There's a saying that’s apt here; lived in Blackpool all your life and never been up the Tower. The White Nancy is the same for me. Its very local to where I live and has been there for ages. Yet, I’ve never visited despite always...More
A short, stiff climb up Kerridge Hill is rewarded by a spectacular view over Bollington. A lovely ridge walk continues towards Rainow and is well worth the further effort. The folly, which can be seen from miles away is a puzzle. Erected to commemorate Waterloo,...More
This is a brilliant little Folly on top of Kerridge Hill it over looks the villages of Bollington and Rainow. If you like steep walks then I’d recommend this one!
I’d also take some suitable shoes as the Gritstone Trail is quite rocky and stepped,...More
White Nancy is believed to be erected to commemorate Wellington’s victory at the battle of Waterloo, and looks like a very large bomb inverted. It is often repainted by the Council, and other miscreants to recognise a particulsr event such as the Manchester Arena bombing....More
Found this little walk whilst visiting Bollington. Took around 20 mins to walk up (wet weather). Beautiful views overlooking the village/town/citys and hills.
Concrete path then little stone steps heading up to White Nancy.
Lovely little find!
We found this through TripAdvisor and all the complementary reviews which we can now vouch for. It's a great little 30-45 mins or so from parking to have a slow walk up, a look about and meander back down again. Definitely recommend.
