- kay g1 contributionWonderful experienceThis was such good value for Money. I bought the experience on a groupon so was actually expected to be in a large group and wasn’t expecting the personal experience it turned out to be. There were only 5 of us in the group. Myself, husband, and father-in-law and 2 others. You were welcomed into Sally’s home with tea and yummy cake where where she shared what are Cleary her beloved pets with us. She was incredibly knowledgeable with over 30years experience with birds of prey. She took us to meet each one of her birds where she shared her knowledge, then we got to handle to birds for a good amount of time before we were off to the field to watch them flay and land on our gloves. I thought I might have been a little nervous as some of those birds are capable of carrying off a small deer after all. But they were clearly her beloved pets and she kept kissing them all over their faces and beaks, so I had no nerves at all and felt totally at ease around them. Thank you, Sally, we had a wonderful session with you and I highly recommend this.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 6 October 2023
- Adrian BernasconeShoreham-by-Sea, United Kingdom6 contributionsAN AMAZING MORNINGMy wife and I enjoyed a wonderful morning with Sally which started with some loverly cake and tea and a general chat about birds of prey. Next it was being kitted out with gloves and photo opportunity with a couple of the birds, one was a Barn Owl who was soooooo pretty. Then it was a short walk to a nearby field to fly a couple of the birds which was quite amazing. During our visit Sally reflected a passion for these birds and gave us a wonderful insight into her wealth of knowledge. So sum up it was such a wonderful experience which we will both remember for years to comeVisited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 October 2023
- Sightseer079913561611 contributionA fantastic Owl Experience. The recent bad weather meant several cancellations. The morning of the 28th was beautiful with a lovely blue sky. We were greeted by the lovely, welcoming Sally. We were fortunate to be the only couple that morning. We spent a lot of time with the owls and Sally obviously loves her birds and vice versa. So knowledgeable. Loved the time with the owls on our gloves and then flying Luna in the field. Thank you Sally for a wonderful experience.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 December 2023
- Brian NToowoomba, Australia15 contributionsA Wonderful ExperienceMy wife researched things to do whilst on holiday from Australia and found West Sussex Falconry. We both thought that would be a unique experience and we certainly weren't let down. Sally was so knowledgeable and passionate about her birds and happy to answer all our questions. We were taken round the spotless cages to be introduced to each of the birds and Sally gave us a little information on each. The one thing that stood out was how clean every cage was. Next we got to handle a few of the birds which in itself was a wonderful experience and to look into their eyes allowed you to realise how intelligent they were. The highlight was of course being able to take a couple of birds to the field and have the experience of them flying to our outstretched arms, words cannot explain the feeling. I thank Sally enough for allowing us to have the chance of a lifetime in a wonderful setting with wonderful birds. If you want a unique experience then I would highly recommend West Sussex Falconry. I told Sally I wouldn't mention the homemade cake and coffee we were greeted with but the cake was damn good.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 5 December 2023
- Lisa S1 contributionWest Sussex falconaryWow. I would honestly say this definitely on my list of best experiences. Myself, partner and -13 year old stepson were greeted this morning by the lovely amazing sally, with coffee and home made lemon drizzle cake. This was a magical memorial experience, we were so breath taken. Sally explained everything about her family of beautiful birds.. she clearly explained everything about each one. We handled them and went to the field to watch them fly. We can’t wait to go back in the summer to visit her again. 🫶Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 7 January 2024
- Jeremy G31 contributionsWest Sussex FalconrySally greeted me with a lovely smile and the choice of tea or coffee and home made cake. I was joined by three other people before receiving a brief introduction to the Falconry centre and its history. The introduction to the birds was leisurely and informative with time afterwards for plenty of photography. The flying time in an adjacent field was excellent and topped off the visit with a high. I would definitely make time to visit if you are in the area.Visited January 2024Travelled soloWritten 28 January 2024
- Richard A2 contributionsAn amazing experienceWhat an absolutely fantastic experience! Sally our host was amazing, turned up in the morning and had tea/coffee and cake on arrival! She then took us outside to meet the birds(6/7 different species might I add). You can tell by how much knowledge she has about her birds that Sally is very caring and passionate about what she does. We all got our own separate gloves and were able to handle an owl and a hawk, both had such amazing temperament and were able to stroke them also! Lastly we went to a near by field where we were able to experience the birds in flight, landing on our gloves. I can’t recommend this experience highly enough. It’s a must try, you won’t regret it!! Thank you Sally for a unforgettable time!Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 3 March 2024
- Amber R1 contributionAbsolutely amazing!I had the opportunity to meet Sally and her babies today and it was the most amazing experience! Thank you Sally for allowing us this special moment with these beautiful birds of prey! Not only are the birds amazing, but Sally is quite amazing herself and she also educated us on the birds as we met each one. We had great laughs and stayed in awe the whole 3 hours. Go! Just book it and go!! Now! ❤️😂❤️ I know I will be returning as much as I possibly can (or as much as she will allow me 😂), because I fell in love! 🥰 Best £ ever spent!!! (And sometimes she runs specials too but it’s worth EVERY PENNY!)Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 March 2024
- VBOOO5 contributionsBeautiful birds, stunning location, friendly and knowledgeable host. Excellent experienceSally made me and my 9 year old son very welcome. Lots of interesting info about the birds who Sally obviously takes great care of. We had a special morning enjoying these beautiful birds, holding some and then flying her Barn Owl and Harris Hawk in the field next door. All in a stunningly beautiful countryside location. A dream come true for my son and I. Thanks Sally.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 5 April 2024
- Tony B1 contributionAmazing, informative experienceI was gifted a falconry experience by my children and I finally found the time to book up. Thankfully the weather was good so the morning started with Sally, myself and another couple sitting in the garden of Sally's beautiful home enjoying a coffee and cake. Sally then introduced us to her birds and spent time sharing her extensive knowledge and enthusiasm on falconry, she then chose 2 of her birds to demonstrate and allowed us to fly her beautiful hawk and owl from the glove. Sally is an enthusiastic falconer keen to share her wide knowledge and love for her birds. This was a wonderful experience and I would recommend it to anyone with an interest.Visited June 2024Travelled soloWritten 5 June 2024

The boys & I spent a fabulous day with Sally & her other guests at West Sussex Falconry on Saturday.
We received a warm welcome from Sally on arrival, were introduced to the small party of other guests, before being treated to a slice of cake & a cup of tea before the day got started.
Sally lives in the Beautiful village of Compton, with her home and birds located within the grounds of her victorian cottage.
The experience started with a tour of her birds, a history of each and a wealth of knowledge shared and discussed about each of the species.
At lunch time we received a lunch voucher for the local village tea rooms, and the group sat in the sun laughing & joking whilst eating and drinking some scrumptious food & drinks.. I recommend the ploughman's & the Rhubarb press! Simply delicious.
On our return from lunch, we were given a glove snd soon started to handle the hawks & Owls before heading across to the fields to experience flying the birds.
We flew an excited barn owl & one of the Harris hawks, and watched in amazement as the birds flew between us and onto our arms.. Simply captivating.
Sally’s wealth of knowledge, her warm hearted approach & care for her guests was only furthered by the response of the birds and reaction to Sally.. There was a clear bond between her and each of the birds (all of them), and witnessing it was a privilege.
To Sally & the other guests who made the day, thank you so much, & to the Compton village Tea Rooms, thank you for a lovely lunch.

We would highly recommend this experience, we did the Falconry Experience.
On arrival Sally was very warm and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. We initially sat down in her lovely garden and had some delicious home made cake & coffee (soft drinks also available).
It was obvious from the very start that she is very passionate and has a vast amount of knowledge about all the birds (Hawks, Falcons & Owls).
She was very good at engaging with the whole group, went into great depth about the birds if you wanted to, as well as some funny anecdotes.
The group of us then went on to handle the birds (clear and easy instructions) and told us the stories behind them. A great ice breaker if you had never handled birds before.
We all went across to the training field opposite and flew the Harris Hawk and 'Luna' the Barn Owl.
This was a fantastic activity and would recommend it to anyone. No rushing to finish on time, in fact the activity ran over by 45 mins 🤣🤣
Situated in the beautiful village of Compton in West Sussex.
Thanks Sally for a fantastic day out!! 🙂 👍 🦅🦅 🍰

Well worth the money, We were greeted by Sally who was very welcoming, We started with a tea/coffee and a slice of cake. Only 8 people in the group. Then Sally walked us around all of the birds, giving us a close up introduction to each of them, The knowledge and information Sally has of the different birds was amazing. Way better than going to the big Bird Centres. You could see Sally cared and loved for all of these birds so much, and they reacted so lovely as she talked to each of them in turn. We then took it in turns to hold two birds, and have close up photos taken with them.
Finally we went over to this large field and took it in turns to free fly "Luna" a Barn Owl, and an amazing Harris Hawk called "Phoenix", I had the privilege to hold Phonenix on my glove and walk her over to the field to start free flying. My Son and I were so impressed with the experience we will definitely go back.
Also Sally does fantastic paintings of her birds which you can buy too.
Totally Awesome Time

My friend Julie treated me to the 2 hour owl experience and what an experience it was! Starting with a good coffee and Victoria sponge it just got better .
Sally is extremely knowledgeable and clearly cares deeply for her birds. They obviously adore her. Made me laugh when one of the bigger birds was making a noise over our voices and she turned to him as said ‘Will you please be quiet’. And he did!!
She is extremely professional and ensures everyone is included in her talks and respects how close you want to be near to the birds. The owl flying experience was just great and I’d never handled an owl before.
Sally cheerfully answered my silly questions ( like ‘Do they fall off their perch when asleep?) with interesting facts and never once talked down to anyone. She is also a talented artist and has some bird paintings on show.
I would highly recommend a visit here, just make sure you book well in advance to avoid disappointment

Fantastic morning with Sally and the birds! Started off with light refeshments and cake and chat about the birds. We were shown the birds and free to take pictures while Sally spoke about each individual bird which I found very interesting. We were then able to handle the birds then went across the pathway into a field for some flying experience. A very enjoyable time and well recommended. There are also paintings done by Sally in her little art room which are for sale. The artwork is very well done and she clearly has a great talent. Well worth a visit.

Sally is a warms me welcoming host with an encyclopaedic knowledge of birds of prey. Her love for her birds is delightful to see. While the session was planned for 2 hours, we were there for almost three—mainly down to Sally’s passion for sharing her love of falconry—making the visit very good value for money. We each held and then flew three different birds. There were plenty of photo opportunities. I would highly recommend this activity.

Brilliant day. I bought the 2 hour experience for my partners birthday as he’s always loved watching falconry shows. We weren’t disappointed. The morning started with tea and cake and then Sally showed us round all her birds. She was very knowledgeable and friendly and told us all about each bird. We then got to hold a selection and stroke their chests. She then took us across to the neighbours field where she flew a hawk and an owl and they landed on our gloves. We both absolutely loved it and can highly recommend the experience.

Amazing experience from start to finish. Sally the owner is so passionate and knowledgeable about her birds, left me smiling from beginning to end. Starting with a drink and homemade slice of cake, to viewing and handling some birds to flying some. Best way to spend a morning

What a smashing time Glen I have just had with Sally and all her beautiful birds of prey and owls. It was lovely weather and whilst we had coffee and homemade cake Sally talked to us about how she had always had a passion for birds of prey and owls and eventually ended up running West Sussex Falconry. We then met the birds, all so different and characterful, and Sally talked about them with such love and you could tell how contented and well looked after they all were. We were then able to handle the birds, in our case a gorgeous Harris Hawk and Barn Owl, and then went into the neighbouring field where we had the magic experience of them flying to the glove. Wonderful ! We would thoroughly recommend a visit. Many thanks Sally from Sue and Glen M.

I’m sure any age can visit and listen to the talk. The owner may have an age cap on handling the birds. Best thing is to ask her direct. She’s a lovely person.
