- Rich S12 contributionsExcellent museum and well worth a visit.I visited the underground hospital with my teenage son who is about to join the RAF. He found it fascinating. This is my second visit to the site, my original visit being over 20 years ago. In that time the site has been upgraded and I really enjoyed my revisit. I would recommend visiting it and it’s especially comfortable on a hot day as the tunnels provide cool and pleasant surroundings !Visited June 2023Written 25 June 2023
- claire h1 contributionGerman Underground HospitalWell worth a visit much larger than expected its pretty chilly in there so taking a jacket is a good idea. Martin was so helpful we left at closing time and had missed the bus! Martin very kindly offered us a lift back to our hotel thanks so much ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 July 2023
- Monica TBath, United Kingdom132 contributionsHaunting..............This is a fascinating yet haunting place. A labyrinth of passages thankfully well signposted takes you deep underground to experience the lengths went to by the Germans to build the place. Only in use for three months it took three years to build by forced labour. Details of some individuals who were enslaved there can be read as well as information about how it was built and what is was ultimately used for. Very well lit and overall well presented preserving this piece of history which is so important.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 July 2023
- Christine FStockholm, Sweden99 contributionsGerman Underground Hospital, WW2 largest structure from the Nazi German occupation in the Channel islands. Creepy!Adds an additional picture /story to this time, to the one of Jersey War Tunnels, in Jersey. This one has less exhibition information, and is very crude, naked, cold, and creepy. Damp, very cold (yes, do put on a cardigan and a jacket, even in the summer). Very small 'shop', and no cafe / lunchrestaurant (compare Jersey War Tunnels). Still worth while visit. Adds to the more full picture of a gruesome time, and the hardships to the peoples in the Channel Islands.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 22 July 2023

- swift-simbaCamberley, United Kingdom7,398 contributionsAn impressive structureThis is an incredible structure and so large with so many corridors. It was so hard to comprehend how it was made . It apparently took 3 1/2 years to excavate. It was only used for 9 months. You are given a map and there are very good signs to guide you around and there are signs to help you find your way around. The corridors are lined in Concrete sections and some are lined with bricks. It must have been very oppressive. There are some interesting information board that tell you about some of the Guernsey people of the time. There are displays of items to see and some hospital wards with beds. The beds where very close together. There were some escape ladders that would have been quite frightening to use. If you visit wear warm clothing as it is quite chilly when you walk around. Suitable shoes for damp and wet floors are useful. It is certainly an impressive structure that must have been terrifying for those involved in its creation. Good place to visit on a wet day.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 November 2023

Very sombering piece of history. Enjoyed the historic input but very grim experience in terms of leaving there feeling rather sad and little but depressed.

Really interesting visit to the underground hospital and ammunition store.
Wet and cold down there, much cooler than outside temperature so layers of clothing are helpful!

I would think it unlikely, but worth contacting the owners as they may be happy to arrange for you to view it. Well worth it if you can.

If you take the 71 bus from town just ask for "Underground Hospital". It is then a short walk down the road. It takes how long you make it - it can be done in 30 mins but have spent 1hr and 30 down there before
how much is the entrance fee
