    Beautiful
Cool cliffs to see! Parking is right there. Steep climb up onto the cliffs. We found out once on top, there’s a less steep rocky climb on the back side of the cliffs if you choose. VERY windy on top of the cliffs. Very vast and open. Beautiful to see! We spent about 30 minutes here before venturing on our travels. Wild horses near by to say hello to when we left.

    Stunning on a sunny day
There is not much to do here unless you choose to climb to the top. The view is best from below though and on a sunny day with blue skies these columns look beautiful. The wall looks like a fortress and it is amazing that this is all natural. There is easy parking so it is well worth a stop.

    Cliff of Basalt Column
Located @ Snaefellness peninsula about 130km from capital city of Reykjavik . Hexagonal shape basalt column neatly stacked in row along the cliff. Formed after volcanic eruption / lava coolness.......goggle for info......too complicated to explain 😅 geologist graduates/ students will love them. Similar basalt column can be found at ' Black Beach ' in Reynisfjara

    Cliffs out of nowhere.
Nice on the journey stop. Wouldn’t plan a trip around it but good stop off main route. Signage was not great. Easy to miss if you didn’t map it. The cliffs were easy climb and pretty to look at.

This is an interesting geological feature, not far off the main road, so worth a quick detour. Parking is easy and the columns can be viewed from the bottom without doing any climbing. We decided to scramble to the top, though to be honest you don’t see the columns once on top of them! However there’s a nice view. We didn’t fancy sliding back down the slippery path so we followed a track around the western end of the columns which was much gentler and brought us back to the car.

The Colin’s are quite remarkable as they look like a man made fortress. It’s a short detour off the main road and worth the stop. Don’t bother climbing to the top unless you want to climb for fun. The best view is at the bottom.

This is a nice stop on the way to other things on the peninsula. Geologists would love it the most - it's interesting to see the columns of basalt. There were lots of flies there in July which made it a bit annoying but it's something different from the glaciers, waterfalls and thermal features in the country.

Interesting geology.

Easily seen from the road and you can decide if you want to go for a closer look.

I found it interesting but if we were running short of time I wouldn't have minded skipping this.

We visited the Gerduberg basalt columns on an extremely cold day which I felt detracted from our visit. While majestic and impressive looking we couldn't wait to get back into the warmth of our car to feel normal again. We bundled up with multilayered clothing but this could not warm us up enough to stay outside for an extended period of time. For this reason I'm rating this visit as just average for us. Perhaps if we visit on a warmer day in the future we will change our Trip Advisor rating.

This place is must see, but you have to pay attention because it is in the middle of nowhere. We found it while driving fron Reykjavik to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. You'll need to plug it into your GPS to find it, there is only a tiny sign to identify it on the road. You can climb up to the top for some spectacular views of the area.
