This is a cool double sided waterfall. It's definitely off the beaten path. I believe it took about an hour to get to from Gullfoss. We initially wanted to see some other falls in the area, but time was not on our side. I would...More

This is another one of many less-frequented waterfalls in Iceland. It has ample parking and can be viewed from the parking area. A good trail leads down to the water for closer viewing.

This waterfall is located off the Golden Circle so the number of visitors is relatively small. It is located a short distance from the main road and can be accessed by a gravel road, that is relatively smooth compared to some of the other dirt...More

Two mighty falls joining as one body of water! This is where my son and his bride were married in September! Symbolic, Romantic ... everything was perfect! A hidden beautiful foss (waterfall) with an alone time and peaceful quality!

Beautiful waterfall amidst desert like land. A complete surprise, cannot be seen until you are at the edge of the fall. Pretty good access by gravel road.

We stumbled upon this waterfall and were glad that we did. Noone was around and the views were amazing. We didn't spend long here and you don't have to walk far to take in the natural views and get some great photos. We never saw...More

From Road 32. It is just a very short detour to see a beautiful sight. Only a minutes walk from the car park. One of the 4 falls around this area that we planned to visit. Must stop. Well worth the time.

While on a totally unrelated tour, our guide stopped at Hjalparfoss as an added bonus. Everyone on the tour was grateful that he did. Yet another magnificent Iceland WATERFALL!

We spent several hours exploring around Hjalparfoss. The drive to get there was beautiful, and a large part of the time we were here, we had the place to ourselves. We climbed to the top of the hill and explored back behind the top of...More

Its about a mile after you come off the main road (though the main road isn't that great either). Totally fine if you are careful though - and well worth the drive!

Yes, I did it with a small 2WD car in June. Just drive slowly as always on unpaved roads.
