This trip, of over 100 miles, is well worth the effort. The scenery is spectacularly different and the geysers and waterfalls are something else! There are cafes/tourist shops along the way at the main sites, but they don’t distract from the wonder of these natural...More

After South Coast, I did the drive on Golden Circle. Went to Thingvellir NP, Geysir, Gullfoss, Kerid crater and back to Reykjavik. - Drive slowly - Thingvellir is best enjoyed with little crowds, so leave early. The fissure of both continental plates is awesome (am...More

A absolutely amazing route, and a “have to” if your visiting Iceland! I highly recommended a rental car, so that you can take your own time at each stop! The tourist busses are on a time schedule and drove very fast on the roads. There...More

I thought this was such a tourist trap, but maybe I was spoiled by the truly unbelievable more secluded sights in Southern Iceland. We started our trip driving from Keflavik Airport all the way to the southeast coast, with stops along the way. The views...More

It is possible to do the Golden Circle in a day. We hired a 4WD car, (it wasnt really necessary, but I wanted the luxury of being able to go off road if we wanted to). We set off from Keflavik at about 09:30 and...More
