No shortage of great things to see and do. Charming area of Illinois. Beautiful grounds, I heard they have a water park, but that's not my thing. We went in January when the bald eagles were plentiful and had a great time. I loved walking in the park. Many, many trails to choose from leisurely to difficult to please any... More

I took my 6-year-old son and 3-year-old son for their first visit to Starved Rock State Park. We only climbed Starved Rock and the stairs to the Lodge Area so I won't call it "hiking" but we did have a good few hours of exploring. We looked for many of the art pieces and carvings surrounding the lodge. It was... More

I have hike here with a group of people on meetup.com 5 times now. The beautiful scenery keep bring me back along with a chance to spot some bald eagles on the river. The best time to visit is January or February when you can see the spectacular frozen waterfalls. Just make sure you get there early as it does... More

We stayed two nights at The Lodge. The Lodge manager Gino went out of his way for our group. Between him and our waiter (army strong) and bartender we couldn't have been more graciously treated. We loved our hikes and saw ten eagles. The canyons are awesome. Love this place!

We went for the Eagle watching. They had many interesting events and even live Eagle,Hawk, Owl and Falcon they walked through the room to show attendees. The park itself is amazing there are canyons, some with waterfalls. You can hike from the lodge to all the canyons, there are visitor centers on both sides of the river with attractions and... More

Due to weather there werent many eagles but the park itself was beautiful and the programs at the lodge more than made up for the few sightings. We did see about a dozen, so it wasnt a washout. Park staff was friendly and helpful. I love that dogs were allowed (on leash) We plan on returning many more times only... More

This is a very well kept and clean state park, very family friendly. Also saw many people with dogs on the park grounds, which is highly unusual in most state parks. we enjoyed our visit and will definitely go back

Had so much fun hiking the trail with our 4 kids- ranging in age from 8-17. They all had fun. They all would go back again. Great location and family friendly environment. BIG HELPFUL HINT...If you are hiking and are a newer hiker bring walking sticks...THEY DO HELP- ALOT.

My fiancé and I traveled here from the burbs to have a couple days to ourself. It was nice because it's an off season no one was there. It was nice and quiet and lots of hiking to ourselves. Definitely worth a trip planning on returning in the summer.

We visited the first weekend of 2017 to see the bald eagles come to nest. What an amazing sight! Though freezing, the experience will take your breath away. Walk around the beautiful grounds, go hiking, stop at the Lodge for a drink or a bite to eat. I almost picked this venue for my wedding because of its simple beauty... More
