Not spectacular!
Jun 2021
Having seen Greenway from the river on many occasions our expectations of our visit were high, but I'm sorry to say we were underwhelmed by the experience. It made for a pleasant afternoon stroll through woodland but was not at all spectacular with only a couple of momentary glimpses of the river below and very little colour on show.
The house was limited access due to Covid regulations but was still not the immersive Agatha Christie atmosphere I expected.
We came to the conclusion that we doubted the National Trust would have acquired Greenway House had Agatha Christie not once lived there.
At least there was a courtesy mini-bus to take us back up the hill to the car park!

Beautiful

Beautiful place to visit and enjoy the walks through woods and by the river. The house which belonged to Agatha Christie has lots of history which the volunteers eagerly describe.

Good Day Out
May 2021
Really enjoyed our time at Agatha Christie's summer home. Gardens are vast and wonderful and it was interesting seeing inside the house; just a shame couldn't go upstairs. Well worth a visit especially if you are a National Trust member. We travelled by ferry from Dartmouth and it was an excellent way to get to Greenway.

Delightful visit
Jun 2021
Thoroughly enjoyed exploring the former home of Agatha Christie. Shame that it’s only the ground floor that can be viewed at present due to COVID restrictions. Guides as always were informative and knowledgeable. We had a lovely day to walk around the gardens and enjoyed a coffee sitting outside.

Great cruse to the house but disappointed.
May 2021
Our expectation was more than the delivery. We cruised downriver there and back and that was enjoyable but he house and grounds were disappointing - the grounds probably suffered from the past year with Covid but the house was dark inside and full of 'stuff' which we didn't expect. ( the family were inveterate collectors of everything from local antique markets apart from artifacts from various 'digs' by Agatha and her husband.

Disappointing house
Apr 2021 • Family
I have seen this house 4 years ago from the river Dart when we went on a cruise from Dartmouth. Ever since I wanted to visit it in person especially because Agatha Christie was one of my favourite author when I grew up. Tickets were very limited and I was very lucky to book them for myself and my family although the timing wasn’t great. Ideally we would like to have an early slot and take a ferry to Dartmouth or do one of circular walks around. Anyway I was very excited to go and read a lot about it in NT website. I’m so glad that I did in advance! There is no explanation about anything Agatha Christie related in the rooms. The knowledge of room attendants was also very limited. Which is quite disappointing. I know that many of these jobs are filled by volunteers ! However I think it’s important if they have some basic information about what the particular room is about and. An answer some general questions. I know that I would learn if I was in their place!
Also only ground floor is open so what you could actually visit is very very limited. The best attraction was gardens and views! We went on a sunny warm day and it looked lovely. Nat Trust gift shop had a good selection of Agatha Christie novels.

A pleasant day out in good weather
May 2021
A pleasant day out in good weather. The house is not particularly interesting, and I was surprised that there was (apparently) no exhibition that might have told visitors more about the history of the house, its gardens or its most famous resident, Agatha Christie. It seems you had to buy the guidebook for more background info.

The main attraction was the gardens, which are extensive and reach from the river up to the hill behind. this would not be an easy place to visit if you have limited mobility - although there are a few level walks. Views across the River Dart are stunning.

As usual at NT properties, snacks and ice creams are pricey but of very good quality.

Interesting house and location
May 2021
There are plenty of walks in the gardens although these are not as good as nearby Coleton Fishacre and there is plenty of info about Agatha herself

Greenway garden
May 2021 • Couples
Beautiful grounds, easy to wander and enjoy for a couple of hours, a few slopes as the garden leans down towards the Dart at points- beautiful views across the water from The Battery. Bluebells, rhododendrons, ancient woodland very pretty in May. House was only partly open, quite simple, not particularly interesting, go for the gardens.

A beautiful National Trust property
May 2021
We visited Greeway last week and were very impressed with our visit. We are National Trust members and staying in Devon we looked at what was open in the area. Unfortunately the house was not open due to Covid restrictions but our visit was made very special by the outstanding helpfulness of the staff who offered us a wheelchair for my husband who has mobility issues. We were also directed to a parking space nearer the house (as the standard parking is quite a treck from the house and garden. We were lucky to have good weather, sunny and not too cold and were able to enjoy the fantastic gardens that meander down to the boathouse on the Dart River. The views are amazing! It is not recommended for people with mobility issues unfortunatly because of steep slopes and some narrow paths but good views can be enjoyed from the house and the more accessible part of the garden. I would love to return when Covid restrictions cease and the house is open. We had a picnic in the grounds which was very nice. There are lots of benches dotted about and picnic tables in the walled garden. This is a visit not to be missed. Thank you to the lovely staff.
