Hi Tronie here. I have a lots of words to say about the Rotart Jail. I was trapped in there after hours. I mean i never actually payed my admission fee, but i snick in after Mr. D left. Then the jail rotated and I was trapped. A spooky specter ran in the room and started haunting me. They were... More

We learned of the rotary jail in the Atlas Obscura book...and then realized we'd be driving within 20mi of it in November. That said, a road trip was at hand. We were not disappointed. The docent was very knowledgeable and gave us a great tour of the facilities and background into the typical and the few more prominent cases that... More

This gem of a museum was definitely worth the $5 per person and the time it took to tour it. It's the only working rotary jail in the world, and we got to see it turn! We had a great tour and learned a lot, and saw some interesting artifacts.

We had a great tour guide at the museum! It's such a unique piece of history to share with all ages. Anyone over 7 would do well checking out this actual rotating jail. Very interesting facts about the use of the jail and how it was built and retired.

I lived in Crawfordsville my whole life. I didn't visit this fantastic place until I had children of my own and came back for a visit. What a great place!!

Worth the drive for the piece of history! Our tour guide was phenomenal and we learned a ton! He was young yet very passionate about his work. We learned so much!

Located in an unassuming building, lies a unique work of engineering, especially considering how long ago it was created. Imagine a three layer cake with a central rod. That is how the jail cells are arranged and it can still move today. The young girl was a very good tour guide. Worth a stop if you are in the area.

Been to the Old Jail museum numerous times. The way the place functioned in its' prime is amazing. Recently went to the Tannenbaum Cultural Center for an event. While not spectacular, the reception area is quite nice and it is a great place for a wedding/baby shower, graduation party and other modest gatherings.

This is probably one of the most unique sites we have visited. It is the only remaining rotary jail anywhere and prior to visiting this historic landmark, we did not know jails like this ever existed. The guided tour takes you through the entire jail....bottom to top, inside actual cells. Very interesting and most definitely unique.

We were staying at a local hotel whilst passing through to Indianapolis and saw the advert so decided to visit. The guide who showed us round was very effective. The trip to the museum lasts about 30 minutes and is well worth the small fee. Glad we went round this unique building (which of course has nothing to do with... More
